Outback Wrangler Matt Wright’s high-profile conspiracy trial nearly ‘aborted’ following ‘unfair’ A Current Affair episode

On Wednesday Justice Alan Blow ripped into the Channel Nine segment which he said threatened to “abort” the high-profile celebrity trial.

“It was a piece of journalism that was aimed to suggest that Mr Wright is guilty of something — and that’s not what TV journalists should be doing,” Justice Blow said.

“It’s very important that Mr Wright gets a fair trial and watching that program could interfere with his right to a fair trial.”

Justice Alan Blow told the 12-person jury and two reservists that the program published a “stale” witness list and a photo from the fatal helicopter crash site.

“It was quite unfair and it created a danger of this trial having to be aborted.”

Not sure where to post this exactly but there’s a local current affairs program from Fitzmedia LIVE in Warrnambool whose logo cover resembles that of the well known A Current Affair logo. Consider this an ACA copycat of sorts.

We constantly hear of questionable behaviour of the people that work there. What sort of work culture do they have at ACA and Nine?

Nothing screams childcare crisis more than broadcasting live from the front of a brewery by the Brisbane River.

I think the reaction is a little over the top. I get it was against the social media policy, but The Australian went hard.

ACA boss Amy McCarthy steps down after Logies controversy

Internal tensions at Nine have erupted after a resignation over social media posts just a week before the station faces major cuts.

The program’s star Ally Langdon, who has been asserting herself more and more at Nine since beating Stefanovic to the coveted A Current Affair gig in 2023 following Tracy Grimshaw’s retirement is said to have previously voiced her concerns about McCarthy’s perceived lack of experience to Nine’s top brass.

Those concerns seem to have gone largely dismissed until the night of the Logies when the executive producer’s posts presented her critics with a golden opportunity.

Nine sources insist that despite evidence to the contrary, Nine news boss Dear continued to support McCarthy after her social media posts found their way into a media column the morning after the Logies.

Absolute insanity

Happened everywhere. Tried to come back with story after 2 ads. That lasted about 3 seconds then into another ad. Eventually joined program after another ad. Apology after the first story.
