I’d say it’s because the SMH, Age and Canberra Times has a defence of truth, so they probably think that this will help their defence.
If you were innocent and being falsely accused of something, I think most of what Ben actually said is fine. I would want to destroy the people who are out to get me too.
9’s report felt like mud slinging and trying to smear his name even more than they already have. Social media comments are very strongly and almost entirely in Ben’s favour.

That’s not always the case. When 60 Minutes did an expose on Crown Casino in 2019, there were extensive reports on The Age and SMH across the same weekend as the broadcast.

It’s ok the 60 minutes FB. None of them are people I follow, and I’ve read quite a few, not one is supportive of the story.
Not if you think Roberts-Smith is guilty of committing the acts/crimes he’s been accused of committing. Obviously the people who support him think the opposite - only time will tell whether they’re right or not
No, but the tone of a lot of commentary seems to virtually be excusing any deaths committed during war.

Whether he is guilty or not we live in an allegations based world and therefore his image and reputation is now tarnished and should be sacked at the very least.
And that is the problem exactly.

Not ideal but we need to all navigate it in our social and work circles and be aware of it. It can be very damaging but it’s the reality so therefore people should adjust their behavior.

Somehow, it’s as though this case won’t set a sweeping precedent that will have any impact on the rest of us one way or another.
