Even more proof that 6 News isn’t “old news” or a “week in review” - our 2 leading reports both had the latest COVID figures & information on restrictions easing in 2 seperate states.
Very proud of our engagement on YouTube too - over 30K views for my report from the scene of Saturday’s anti-lockdown protest in Melbourne, resulting in hundreds of new subscribers.

I’m sorry Leo, but I wouldn’t be proud reading comments on that report from Saturday. I would suggest many of those followers are far right activists, likely from the US and Europe. That wasn’t a protest by locals upset about restrictions on small business and school attendance.
Engagement with the extremes of the political spectrum isn’t required to remain unbiased. For what it’s worth many of the people you retweet I’ve muted, don’t understand why you give them a voice. Those YouTube comments seem to attract similar mindsets.

Aka the same ones who put on a large number of dislikes on any videos by ABC, Seven, Nine, 10, SBS and anyone but Sky News with their talking heads. Those people are the same that think Alan Jones and Paul Murray are saints.

And they leave comments, some I guess are moderated away, but nothing to be proud of let alone interact with these unhinged fringe dwellers. The dog whistle has come out again with today’s violent riot in Melbourne, I mean if it’s engagement he’s after, sure well done, but bye bye credibility. It’s like how to engage with Sky News Australia’s YouTube audience without being Sky News Australia.

Correct, we’ve had to moderate many comments & hide all until manual review on 3/4 of our recent uploads - some of the comments calling for violence, or that contain very blatant anti-semitism, have been removed, along with personal attacks on myself & our team.
Our reporting standards will not change. Just go check out our bulletin last night - the same great, up-to-date coverage - nothing will change.
It’s not the reporting that’s not the issue. It’s the constant references to telegram, parler et al, liking and replying to comments from these anarchist fringe dwellers. You’re in their world now, they will seek to control and influence how you report it you continue down this path of engagement being your number one priority.

This deserves massive praise! What a big scoop for Leo. Interviewing a former Prime Minister of Australia is absolutely massive for someone of his age and the fact that Mr Rudd gave Leo 30 minutes of his time during the week is fantastic.
Congratulations Leo. You should be so very proud. It is such an achievement for you and 6 News as a whole.

I think it’s safe to say all aspiring journalists would kill for an opportunity to have a one on one with a PM (current or former). Leo has managed something most of them can only dream about.

I was going to say that. It is awesome to see him supporting the next generation in this way.
Depending on what is said in the interview we may very well see Leo and the 6 News logo featured in the “mainstream” media again this week.
Leo is going to have one hell of an audition “tape” / highlights reel for university and/or job applications in the future.

I was actually thinking recently (just before the interview with Kevin Rudd which yes, is a major coup for them) that we very well could soon see Leo & 6 News get a run on Media Watch and/or Gogglebox.
