59th TV Week Logie Awards 2017

If it wasn’t for some of the rather entertaining comments on Twitter, I think I would’ve given up after five minutes!

Most of the show was a total bore and even though I know the chances of this happening aren’t high, I would probably go as far as saying that the 60th TV Week Logie Awards in 2018 should be the last so the event can go out while it still has something vaguely resembling class and dignity!

Erm. Didn’t you read the earlier comments and discussion about that in this thread? Maybe you should in future?

Nine must be again wondering why the bother hosting these, just to promote the shows of the other networks that perform better.

That was Bert Newton. He was the best host. Andrew Denton was the best of the rest, I think, with everyone else eating dust.

It needs a total overhaul. It currently resembles a karaoke show interspersed with the meat raffle at a leagues club, but not as entertaining.

I think it’s more the acquired brain injury combined with a late night. His appearance ended with a nice moment but it just took a long time to get there.

I totally agree. If he just gave him the gold hat it could have been a touching moment. The incoherent story did ruin the moment.

Because it gives them a chance to run promos for The Voice and House Of Bond on continuous loop to a captive audience. And they may have mentioned once or twice about Delta Goodrem’s new perfume.

Dave Hughes was terrible in his opening intro. He wasn’t funny or clever and he went way too long… and then to have him announce the premier award at the end? So many other Logies alumni that could have made a better presentation of the night’s highest honour.

And the two overseas performers were boring as. I didn’t mind Casey Donovan although her performance tended to almost overshadow the people we were meant to be acknowledging. Jessica Mauboy’s performance should have started the night… not almost ended it.

And I don’t know who wrote Larry Emdur’s spiel about Reg Grundy but that was not great either. Amanda Keller’s speech for Kerri-Anne was fantastic, though.

Gold Logie worthy right there

Be curious to see what edit of Molly off his face Perth gets.

Huh

One must never diss Channel 10 on ratings, apparently.

It was one of the funniest bits of his monologue and he was saying what everybody was thinking. How could they have had a 75kg contestant on The Biggest Loser? People want to see fatties getting punished. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They should try a theatre format next year and hold it somewhere like the Sydney Opera House.

I take it TV Week book out rooms/floors for the networks (seperately)?

Well then, at least the Gold Logie went to a program that DID get massive ratings…

“Molly” (2.1m metro - 28 day consolidated)

Congrats Samuel Johnson, absolutely deserved it, a brilliant performance last year!

Also great roles over the years in “Rush” (which also starred co-nominee Roger Corser) & “The Secret Life Of Us”.

You mean they don’t bunk Sam and Kochie in the same room as Karl and Lisa. My mind is blown.

I take it they are being forced to watch the 7 coverage, rather than the superior no ad breaks feed on Fox Footy…

Excuse my AFL ignorance, was that before the Logies?

Well that’s when the footy would have been screening. MKR was up against the Logies.

So Koch was into the grog before he even started dinner.
