Something worth remembering: Nine only won three Logies tonight.
Next year, I suspect that the number will be closer to 10 to compensate for what I’m sure the network will consider to be one of the worst Logies nights (well, not as bad as the year around 2009-10 when they embarrassingly only won one Logie) ever for Nine.
This was one of the longest Logie Awards I have ever seen (7.30pm to nearly midnight). I guess that was to allow all categories to be presented live on TV.
And I missed 40% of it because it clashed with MasterChef!
The problem is that the broadcast went pretty much an hour beyond the advertised EPG end time. That doesn’t happen by one or two things causing the show to run late but bad producing not knowing how long it would take to present all the awards. If the US can have their award shows fit in a strict three-hour window, there’s no reason why the Logies can’t be the same
Here’s a free tip for TV Week/Nine, get rid of the musical performances. They aren’t needed and in fact interrupt the momentum the night builds having award after award being presented. That in itself would reduce the duration by a good half hour which benefits everyone.
I was beginning to think it would never end tonight! 4 hours is beyond a joke for the Logies. It should be 3 hours max. IMO. Are they trying to set a new duration record every year now?

Waleed. Well done,
I can just picture all the outrage in today’s NewsCorp papers over him taking out the gold (and silver).
Congrats to Waleed (would’ve been great to see Lee Lin win thought! ). Was also really great to finally see Noni Hazelhurst being inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame. Very well deserved and great speech from her, too!
Why’s Waleed surprised? His co-host on the programme won the same award last year. I think it was at that point we all learned that the Gold Logie is no longer handed out to the most popular personality on Australian TV, as the Project is probably the lowest-rating programme around.
I somehow feel that this means I’ll have to see more large, grainy screengrabs of Waleed’s face every morning on the smh website next to the main headlines, with some pathetic clickbait quote underneath his face…urgh nothing worse in Australian media.
Agreed, easily the best Logies in over a decade. Set was great, gfx, more importantly no imported random US celebrity, no random overseas musical acts. Awards were presented with some heart (Noni and Waleed were excellent), the reconfiguration of the awards worked well, and some excellent dramatic actors were showcased, and the comics and even presenters all did well except Mike Willisee. The best supporting awards were much needed. 4 1/2 hours was a bit long though, even for me.
One thing they need to drop is Shane Jacobson’s time wasting crowd work.

probably Andrew Bolt.
Oh, yes, that’s all we need! If that were to ever occure I’d definitely boycott the Logies forever.
Felt it was very well produced this year and the set looked great IMO
Agree, set looked great this year. My only issue is it’s padded out with all the extra unnecessary crap (too many ad-breaks, music performances) which makes it drag on and on for far too long.
Certainly went way tooooooooooo long.

The set was really good this year, liked the stairs. The only stand-out presenters were Dave Hughes and Julia Morris- absolutely hilarious.
Congrats to Waleed (would’ve been great to see Lee Lin win thought! ).
I thought if they got the Silver Logie they couldn’t get the gold, but anyway… Congrats to Waleed. Even though he truly deserves it, I think the TV Week Logie Awards are a little rigged. Imagine all of the bad PR if a ‘white’ person won the Gold or a male was inducted into the Hall of Fame…

Agree. Such a television icon, a very intelligent, caring and wise woman.
And he won it when Today was a clear No 2 in its timeslot. By comparison, Sunrise and its presenters, particularly Mel Doyle, nominated for awards on many occasions at the height of their popularity and never won.
Karl, Scott Cam, Hamish Blake all winners due to social media campaigns. To a lesser extent, so were Ray Meagher and John Wood…part of the “about time” campaigns, though John Wood had been nominated 10 years in a row.
Is Nine going to put up the whole awards ceremony up on 9Now? I missed recording the first half hour.
They have the Red Carpet arrivals there as a whole episode but the rest of the show is clips only. We have the acceptance speeches but not all the presenters or any performances,
Good points made there. You are right and you can’t disregard someones win based on ratings ratings. There are so many other factors.
As for Waleed though… I can’t help but think he won because of that 2 minute terrorist clip going viral. I would have preferred Carrie BIckmore won if someone from the Project was to take it out.
Waleed Ally winning gold has restored a little faith (and I am only saying a little) faith in the Australian public. He is a very deserving winner. Great speech. This is happening and if you don’t like it use a filter on ibstagram.
