You’re doing a top job Marcus. Keep up this kind of exposure and your audience and awareness will continue to grow.
Now is the best time to go hard with all of Jones’ ex-listeners feeling a little lost.

at least you are having a go at trying to drum up some listeners. Can’t fault you for that.
I’m in another city so don’t listen, but do you do more talk or news? Are you aiming for Alan’s audience, or a mixture of different audiences? As in not just rusted on right wingers?
Thx for the comments. I’m trying to catch a more diverse range of listeners. I feel the time might be right to try for a slightly different approach, that’s why I say my show is contemporary news talk. So, my program features the days news, callers on the Open Line, interviews with politicians and commentators like Jordan. Of course it would be nice to get some of disgruntled GB listeners, but I think we’d all agree his audience is fading away. I’ve been given an opportunity to breathe new life into the time slot, So you’ll hear a bit of the latest music, alongside 80s 90s hits as well. But most importantly I want diverse opinions from all sides of political thought, while also being strong in my own opinions etc. We will see how it goes I just love my job.
Well, I’m out, I’m through!. Other priorities calling in life.
Yeah it shows. They are still advertising the LG Stylus DAB phone. Hasn’t been sold for years. So they are not updating much. I guess SEN won’t be able to buy DAB spectrum from Bill.
I had one when it launched, wasn’t too bad. Sold it to CeX when I needed some dough. Picked up one off eBay as a secondary phone/media player/remote for Bluetooth devices in class.
Quite the odd radio couple, but it could work tho… boomer news with gen y views
I got one second hand. But I dropped it and poor thing died. I found the DAB reception wasn’t as good as a standalone player. Nor the FM radio in fact. But I am fussy.
And that they need a decent telescopic antenna for best results. Earphone cables don’t make for very good antennas.
Yeah but I compare apples with applies. I use my Sangean radio which uses the headphone wire as an aerial. It was superior to the LG. Not all radios are the same reception wise. Plus I think the DAB software on the LG was buggy not many updates. It sucked especially when listening to EEP 4a stations like Fun when it was on air. The Sangean can handle EEP 4a better.
I know what you mean, I have two Sony radios. One is a combo AM/FM/CD Boombox unit where FM isn’t as good as with the one with DAB and FM (and no CD player). Both with telescopic antennas.
Well isn’t this interesting. I wonder why it hasn’t received more coverage.
Chris Bowen will be regularly appearing on Marcus Paul’s breakfast show.
…and there I was thinking a Sydney right wing radio show was having a Labor politician on the show.
Not everything you read on the internet revolves around Labor, thankfully.
First they had Jordan Shanks…maybe they can be the Left to 2GB’s Right-leaning talk?
Sorry, did I upset your Liberal sensibilities? It was meant to be a joke.
100% 2SM should be the alternative for 2GB listeners.
That’s easy to do now given that AJ has retired.
The Sydney AM radio market is the same as what the FM market will become when K&J
wrap things up… that is, an even playing field for all.
Obviously it won’t happen for this survey, but it’ll be interesting to see whether or not 2SM eventually decides to re-enter the Sydney radio ratings.
But aside from Lawsie, I get the impression that 2SM has a somewhat vague identity these days. There isn’t really a proper “2SM Sydney” station website - just the 2SM Super Network website. While the mic flags typically used at press conferences these days are generic Super Radio Network ones rather than 2SM ones.
Going by ratings trends of the last few years, the battle for Sydney FM supremacy is fast becoming a two horse race between Smooth & WSFM outside of breakfast with Nova/KIIS holding their own and the SCA stations struggling.
Presuming there won’t be too many major alterations to any station’s music format between now and then, I think either Smooth or WSFM are most likely to be Sydney’s top FM choices at breakfast after K&JO call it a day.
Mine was a joke too. Saw too much political claptrap online from all sides that day and felt a bit mischevious.
