Even though Seven are late to the party, Sevens presentation is very sharp and clean. Having the main presenters based in a studio seems to work better. Unfortunately Nines OB has been a little messy between live links.
Do you mean start?
ABC Australia or ABC USA?
Australia
10 breaking away from CBS coverage for a local updates.
10 also going live crosses to the USA.
Just woke up, why the heck is Nine using CNN graphics??
and Seven? Would they not take NBC if anything
12:18PM AEDT - 10 has switched to Lunchtime branding with other news.
Have to hand it to 10, good on them for having a national bulletin about important stuff for our country outside the US. I assume 7 & 9 carrying on with US coverage.
Electoral College count inserts during morning news in Hong Kong.
Phoenix HK Channel is doing a special report at 10am HKT.
And Taiwan: No coverage at all from Era News, public broadcaster PTS is doing their morning news in regional dialects. Most news channels are on regular rotation of headlines.
Been following bits and pieces through the morning, some early thoughts:
- Nine’s desk seems too small for the amount of people they have. Intriguing that they’re using CNN’s graphics, right down to the location and time supers. Personally, I tuned out when they brought Piers Morgan out. No thanks.
- 10’s presentation is solid, a pity that atrium set isn’t used more often. Impressed with CBS’s style and presentation too.
- Seven really missed a trick by not going live into Perth. Bizarre when every other network had been live for at least a couple of hours. That said, have actually have been impressed by their coverage so far.
- ABC’s coverage has been the pick of the FTA networks though, and by some margin IMO. The presentation has been excellent, and its graphics are sleek, displaying relevant info without taking up much of the screen. Goes to show that you can produce a high-quality news broadcast without needing to send all your big stars to Washington.
I have been listening to BBC Radio’s US Election coverage, which has been a really interesting listen, though I did laugh when an analyst used the word ‘pissed’ and one of the anchors then had to apologise for the language, even though it’s currently in the middle of the night, and past watershed!
