Lauren Parker has become Australia’s first dual-sport Paralympic gold medallist at the same Games in 48 years with her convincing victory in the women’s H1-4 para cycling road race.
Parker was competing three days after winning gold in the women’s PTWC para triathlon.
She also won silver in the women’s H1-3 individual time trial in the para cycling on Wednesday.

Might be a controversial take but I am not a fan of the white based podium tracksuit jacket that the Australian team is wearing. The first time we haven’t had an Australian gold based jacket since 1996.

Curtis McGrath has claimed gold in the men’s kayak single KL2 final. This follows his gold in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021.
James Turner won gold in the men’s T36 100m final in athletics, adding to the 400m gold he won a few days ago.

I found it disrespectful of James Turner towards Lauren Parker. James Turner held the flag the whole time taking the glory for himself and didn’t hand it over to her at any stage. She just rolled her wheelchair beside him the whole time.

Iranian athlete Sadegh Beit Sayah was stripped of his gold medal just before the medal ceremony. Beit Sayah, who had set a new record in the men’s F41 javelin, saw his victory marred after being disqualified for committing two serious infractions.
Beit Sayah, celebrating what he believed was his gold medal win, was first penalised with a yellow card for an apparent ‘throat-slitting’ gesture made after his record-breaking second throw. The gesture, which he claimed was a customary celebratory move, was misinterpreted by officials. His second yellow card came after he unfurled a black flag with red writing in celebration, a move that led to his disqualification under the International Paralympic Committee rules.
