A shame that Nine is not covering this at all.
Hopefully a local weekend bulletin at least?
Does 9 Darwin not have a weekend bulletin? Which city do they normally take?
I remember them doing rolling coverage with Jonathan Uptin hosting in a previous election.
Think it was mentioned that they now take the Sydney weekend bulletin.
They take the Queensland afternoon and weekend bulletins - when Paul Taylor was the Darwin presenter, they would often switch to the Sydney bulletin if he was filling in on the Queensland bulletin, so viewers wouldn’t know that he was actually presenting from Brisbane.
For many years prior to around 2011/12, Darwin took the first half of the Sydney bulletin, before having a small 15-minute local bulletin with news, sport and weather. Between 2012 and the end of local production in 2017, they had their own weekend bulletin (weekend presenters also filed the local reports). They also took the Sydney afternoon bulletin for a brief period in 2017 prior to Darwin becoming part of the Regional QLD bulletin - following this, Darwin then started to air the Queensland afternoon bulletin, along with the weekend bulletin.
Darwin takes Sydney afternoon news on weekdays and Brisbane 6pm on weekends.
They chose Brisbane weekends when Jono moved to that slot, and have since decided to keep it that way.
The last terribly executed election coverage. Wasn’t present on the TV guide and done as opt outs every 20 mins, but they did a good job regardless considering they had no bulletin at the time.
Is tonight’s ABC coverage coming from Darwin or Sydney?
Sky News is also doing their own NT Election coverage. Keiran Gilbert will be hosting from Canberra but there are reporters on the ground in Darwin and Alice Springs.
From the Darwin Convention Centre apparently:
Special bulletin?
Yep - airing on ABC News Channel and ABC-TV across the NT.
Hence the irrelevant intro graphics aha
Update - was just mentioned on the ABC News Channel that there will be local radio coverage from 6pm - will probably also be on NewsRadio like other state elections.
Another update - radio coverage is just a simulcast of the audio of the TV broadcast.
