ABC will likely have results from the ACT as well as three NSW state by-elections (Hornsby, Epping and Pittwater). Pittwater should have some attention as it the seat most likely to flip independent.

This will be the first ACT election since Seven bought Prime, and yet I’d be surprised if there’s even any updates on Seven Canberra for the election on that night.

ABC Radio Canberra’s Adam Shirley and Ross Solly have been broadcasting from four different electorates across the ACT this week. It will continue next week with OB from three more electorates.

The ABC’s election coverage will be hosted by 7pm newsreaders James Glenday and Adrienne Francis, along with analysis from local radio breakfast presenter Adam Shirley.

Appears there will be no dedicated radio coverage, with the article posted by @JohnsonTV about the radio OB’s pointing listeners to the TV coverage on the night.

It also appears that Sky News won’t be providing rolling coverage either (unlike 2020). Presumably updates on the election will come during the various blocks of Newsnight, which is interrupted by pre-taped programs from 7pm-8:30pm and 9pm-10pm.

There’s usually a pretty good indication of results early in the night due to the high prepoll turnout and the majority of prepoll votes being cast electronically, meaning the election computer can conduct a preliminary indicative distribution of preferences straight away on a reasonably sized dataset. By 8:30 the result is often almost beyond doubt other than one or two seats which take weeks to resolve, and speeches tend to happen after 9. It will be interesting to see if Sky cut away from Racing Dreams if a speech occurs in the 9pm hour.
