7NEWS State Political Editor Amelia Brace puts hard questions to NSW Premier and Opposition Leader in first TV election debate of the 2023 campaign

Dominic Perrottet and Chris Minns battle it out for your vote ahead of March 25 poll

7NEWS State Political Editor Amelia Brace has taken the hard questions up to the two men who want to take control of NSW when the state votes on March 25, in an exclusive showdown between Premier Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns at the network’s Martin Place studios, and broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7plus today.

On International Women’s Day, Brace and 7NEWS presenter Angela Cox were at the helm of Seven’s live leaders’ debate where Perrottet and Minns made a direct pitch for power.

In a respectful and engaging hour-long exchange, Brace was able to draw Dominic Perrottet on why voters should return his NSW Liberal Government to office after 12 years; and tested Labor leader Chris Minns on his plans to provide alternate policies for a state facing spiraling cost of living pressures and public service challenges.

Key commitments from both leaders included reducing bureaucratic salaries, while both men were challenged by Brace for purporting to support public education but sending their own children to private schools.

Perrottet turned the torch on Labor’s ‘black hole’ on infrastructure spending, while Minns said the government promise of $50 million in extra project funding would take a high toll on the NSW economy and debt levels.

7NEWS Sydney is committed to bringing its viewers the most comprehensive and dynamic NSW State Election coverage in 2023.

Have they acquired a third long screen or is that just a lightbox (“The Great Debate” vertical screen)

They need to change, or have the ability to change the colour of that strip lighting at the top and middle of the set, I know it’s a warm colour but IMO it just looks off for the Nine graphics package colours.

They already can, no idea why they chose to go with orange for this event.
