According to The Australian’s Nick Tabakoff, the first debate between Dominic Perrottet and Chris Minns will take place this Thursday (February 9) at 7am AEDT, during Ben Fordham’s 2GB show.

Ben Fordham to host first NSW Leaders Debate live and local on 2GB

Sydney’s No.1 Breakfast host, Ben Fordham, will host the first Leaders’ Debate between Premier, Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader, Chris Minns, on 2GB this Thursday, 9th February.

The leaders will go head-to-head live in the 2GB studio from 7am, debating the biggest issues facing the people of New South Wales, before they head to the polls on Saturday, 25th March.

2GB Breakfast host, Ben Fordham, said: “This is the first opportunity to hear these two go head to head. It’s going to be live and unscripted and anything could happen. Each leader has been told to come armed with three questions they want answered from their opposite number. I won’t know what those questions are in advance of the live debate. With the election so close, they’ll both be dead keen to score an early victory.”

Luke Davis, 2GB Content Manager, said: “The upcoming state election is one of the most significant in recent history for the people of New South Wales, so it’s only fitting that the first public debate takes place on Sydney’s No.1 Breakfast show. With Ben Fordham moderating the debate, we can be assured it will be must-listen radio!”

You can listen live to the first NSW Leaders’ Debate on Thursday, 9th February from 7am on 2GB 873AM, streaming via the 2GB app, or watch live at 2gb.com.

7NEWS State Political Editor Amelia Brace puts hard questions to NSW Premier and Opposition Leader in first TV election debate of the 2023 campaign

Dominic Perrottet and Chris Minns battle it out for your vote ahead of March 25 poll

7NEWS State Political Editor Amelia Brace has taken the hard questions up to the two men who want to take control of NSW when the state votes on March 25, in an exclusive showdown between Premier Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns at the network’s Martin Place studios, and broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7plus today.

On International Women’s Day, Brace and 7NEWS presenter Angela Cox were at the helm of Seven’s live leaders’ debate where Perrottet and Minns made a direct pitch for power.

In a respectful and engaging hour-long exchange, Brace was able to draw Dominic Perrottet on why voters should return his NSW Liberal Government to office after 12 years; and tested Labor leader Chris Minns on his plans to provide alternate policies for a state facing spiraling cost of living pressures and public service challenges.

Key commitments from both leaders included reducing bureaucratic salaries, while both men were challenged by Brace for purporting to support public education but sending their own children to private schools.

Perrottet turned the torch on Labor’s ‘black hole’ on infrastructure spending, while Minns said the government promise of $50 million in extra project funding would take a high toll on the NSW economy and debt levels.

7NEWS Sydney is committed to bringing its viewers the most comprehensive and dynamic NSW State Election coverage in 2023.
