Mark Riley is one of the best in the business and I find him pretty fair and impartial.

I hope Seven stays well well away from the likes of Alan Jones and Jeff Kennett for their coverage. I’d switch to someone else right away if any or both of them (shudder) pop up on their coverage which is quite likely considering Seven likes to stroke their massive egos whilst knowing they offer nothing compelling apart from rants about people they don’t like.

I wonder who’ll present Nine’s coverage this year. Peter Overton and Deb Knight did the 2019 election, following years of Karl & Lisa. I’d predict Karl making a return with Ally this year though.

And Peter Overton was hopeless. Deb Knight really led the coverage.

100%. these types of people are just there to stir the pot. I’d rather see a smaller panel with a host (someone respected in news), an analyst (Antony Green sets the platinum standard here), a few pollies (one of each side - ie left and right. doesn’t have to be ALP and Libs) and someone for comedic relief.

don’t give me stupid crap like the shredder, the boot, or other gimmicks when someone loses their seat. Your job is to present the results when they come in and tell me what I need to know. I don’t need opinion, cheerleading, or even dancing when your preferred candidate wins (looking at you sky) When the leaders make their speeches shut the hell up.

in saying that i feel like ive just described the ABC…

Karl and Tracy Grimshaw would be cool. Blast from the past.

Any thoughts on 7?

If Ten use Sandra surely they should also use Jen K.

I’m guessing Pete and Georgie? They are the 6pm bulletin hosts… with Chris O’Keefe and Charles Croucher would be great

Without a doubt

While I do think Pete and Georgie are 100% in contention to host, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Georgie, maybe, but I feel including Peter but not including other metro anchors makes the coverage seem very Sydney centric. Karl and Ally have the added appeal of being national faces, not Sydney with occasional national appearances.

Peter should definitely be a part of the coverage, but I don’t think he should be the main anchor. Maybe he could host a side panel of experts or something?

Couldn’t disagree more. I want to see big name people who can be divisive on election night bringing their strong opinions to create good television, both from the left and right. Last thing I’d want is a panel of nobodies who have no opinions and views.

I don’t think Jones will be there considering he’s been in hospital all year. Kennett is getting older and has discontinued media commitments on Sunrise so would also be unlikely.

Technically their political editors and the politicians they invite on the coverage fits the bill.

Jones and Kennett are has-beens and we don’t need more of their old man grump on mainstream media. The only thing remotely entertaining about Jones is when he shows up in one of his hideous suits.

In the past he has reported from the respective party HQ’s - as has Tracy, Leila, Michael Usher, Fordo, etc.

The Age confirms that Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese will debate on Nine on Sunday May 8. It will take place at 8.30pm from Nine’s Sydney studios, and streamed on Nine Now and The Age and Sydney Morning Herald websites.

Sarah Abo from 60 Minutes will moderate, with Nine’s Chris Uhlmann, The Age & SMH’s Chief Political Correspondent David Crowe, and 2GB’s Deb Knight, asking the questions.

It’ll be interesting to see when and where any third debate will be held considering Albanese is apparently unavailable on May 7th (ie; the date Seven proposed for their debate) & the ABC’s proposed date of May 9th is clearly now not going to happen.

2GB news at 3pm reported Nine’s talk radio stations will also simulcast Nine’s debate.
