same as what Tony Jones is doing.
Can anyone find ABC coverage of the 2016 election? The ABC has the full recording of both 2019 and 2022 on their Youtube but I can’t find any trace of 2016, which is a shame.
This channel is great.
ABC is Australia’s No 1 source of election coverage
As Australia voted, the ABC was Australia’s leading destination for Federal Election news.
ABC News was the top digital news brand on election day and the television coverage across main channel and the ABC NEWS channel was the most watched, reaching 5.2 million Australians between 5pm and midnight.
The ABC’s radio coverage reached listeners across Australia on local and national networks and via the ABC listen app.
Some of the audience highlights:
- The ABC News website had 4.42m users on Saturday (including AMP) and the mobile app set a new record of 953,000 users and time-per-user of 26.3 minutes
- Vote Compass 2022 recorded more than 1.5 million completes
- ABC TV coverage dominated on election night. The metro free-to-air audience share was 27.9% for the main channel and 15.2% for ABC NEWS channel with a combined top free-to-air network share of 44.3%
- Saturday’s ABC TV/ABC NEWS channel Election Night Live special achieved a national (metro + regional) combined reach of 5.2m viewers from 5pm to midnight
- In the final week of the campaign users of the ABC listen app jumped more than 9% to 481,000
- You Ask, We Answer received more than 10,000 questions
- Politics Explained, our vertical video explainer series, had reached 3m views by the middle of week five, and would now be north of 4m
- Saturday’s live election blog received 7.5m page views and 27m engaged minutes
- The live election night blog by ABC Chinese was the top-ranked in-language news service on Google
Election night was the culmination of six weeks of comprehensive on-the-ground coverage, with the ABC’s news, radio and regional teams reporting from across Australia’s 151 electorates and dozens of communities in every State and Territory.
ABC Director, News Justin Stevens said: “Throughout the election campaign ABC teams worked hard to ensure our coverage met Australians’ need for a trusted, comprehensive and engaging source of political news and information, on whatever platform they wanted. It’s great to see that this effort was valuable to our audiences.
“Our coverage continues across platforms as we move into the next phase, with a new Federal Government and plenty of issues and angles to report on, decode and analyse.”
I would hope for Mike Amor and Bec Maddern on 7. Peter Mitchell can’t host anything competently without autocue or that requires the slightest bit of ad-lib.
Not much content on there tbh
It’s got full election coverage from years past, something that was requested on here by another member
Yes it is.
I believe also did Sky News this morning?

Pretty resounding win for the ABC
Antony Green wrote the original software for the ABC’s election computer
Wow!
If only that was a permanent setup because it’s absolutely amazing.
Maybe he could write some software for 7 after their diaster.
I noticed that it was covered on the 9NEWS Australia Facebook page:
