2020 US Presidential Election - Media Coverage

When I briefly flicked over I noticed they were running a split screen of Biden arriving at the Capitol and Trump’s plane landing in Florida. Unless the plane had crashed, that vision shouldn’t be the focus during a presidential inauguration!

7 News logo placing on the top right looks like it’s a sports broadcast to me.

To be fair, it’s interesting to see how the tone of Fox News has shifted in recent months - from uncritical of Trump, to backing a winner in Biden, then back to their usual selves. Wouldn’t be surprised if Newsmax’s rise is contributing to this.

Me neither. I watch it because I want to see how people differently cover the inauguration and compare it to other networks that I have access too. But I also gently remind myself they will bag out any administration they is not trump. .

On the other hand it’s fun to watch Fox News provide alternative lying facts . They did they during Obama administration so if history repeats itself it’s gonna go the same.

I switched over to Newsmax a couple of times to check what they were saying and they weren’t providing rolling coverage of the inauguration. There was in studio “discussion” criticising Biden’s China policy.

Even right now they are criticising the inauguration for not having enough ceremony and not enough crowds watching the parade while the other cable news networks are taking the first WH Briefing.

I sometimes put them on for the same reason - just to see what they’re talking about and to have a laugh at how stupid they are. I usually can’t keep them on for longer than a few minutes though because I just end up annoyed.

I don’t have any issue with Fox News being there. There needs to be an alternative for people who aren’t left leaning but Fox News definitely aren’t helping anything. They can criticise Biden and the Democrats all they want but do it based on facts and not made up conspiracy theories.

Did they have similar criticisms of Trump’s inauguration crowd? :joy:

Seven should have just shown their inauguration coverage live across the country instead of creating a situation where Seven Perth seemingly decided to do their own thing.

Speaking of the coverage, it’s available on 7Plus for those who want to view it:

Surprised 10 didn’t even have a watermark for most of its coverage. WIN (per usual), did in regional areas.

And I thought WIN weren’t allowed (presumably in their affiliation agreement with 10) to put their logo on news from 10.

I’m glad that the coverage overnight was about Trump leaving and Biden’s inauguration.

No protests, no bombs or guns, no riots and no domestic terrorism, all of which seemed a possibility after last week.

So good that 7 covered this on FTA. It was available to all broadcasters. Surprised others didn’t show it.

CNN and MSNBC aired the concert too on subscription television

Yeh. CNN was commercial free. So you got more content.

Disappointed Foxtel doesn’t have MSNBC.
