Are… are fox news… social distancing?!
Shock. Horror. They’re believing the facts.
I wonder whether like Sky have, the FTA networks have thought about coverage contingency plans in case the outcome isn’t known on Wednesday afternoon due to delays in mail-in ballots being counted and/or a tight race (a la what happened in 2000 & 2004)?
The thing that stands out when you read the various articles that have been published over the last few days previewing the US networks’ coverage is the extended coverage plans they have in place. For example, ABC are ready to convert all of their shows on Wednesday into election update programs while NBC have mapped out a schedule to enable them to do rolling coverage for days if needed.
While I’m not saying the Australian networks should/have to go that far, there’s a strong chance that they might have to do overnight coverage Wednesday night into Thursday morning in order to fully cover the count.
While everyone sleeps? What for?
I’d guess (and why not) they could just rebroadcast overnight coverage from their chosen US network.
You got the day off school Leo?
Tonight:
It isn’t unprecedented for the result of Presidential elections to not be known on the night. But at some point the vote counting stops and doesn’t resume until sometimes the following Monday. So there may not be any more results to report once the various state counts are finished for the night.
The legitimacy of the whole thing lies with the fact that trump will not accept the counting of any other votes after election night on the grounds that mail in ballots are somewhat fraudulent. This is going to be a fucking shit show.
That promo looks so fresh and clean. Remove the starts and a lot of that could be utilised as an on air presentation.
Ten airing the CBS 60 minutes interviews with Trump and Biden tomorrow from 8:30pm.
The Leslie Stahl interview from CBS’ 60 Minutes which aired last Sunday in the US
I’m sure a program about American politics will give 10 huge prime time ratings. It’s perfect for their demographics.
Going head to head against The Block on 9
It’s going against the Trump show doco that’s been airing on 9. That’s actually been quite a good watch.
I mean absolutely no disrespect to Leo, or the Ticker boys, but who is going to watch their coverage?
If people are going to watch coverage, they’ll turn to one of the American nets or if they don’t have access, 7/9/10 relaying it here or news websites.
I just can’t imagine anyone going, “shit I really want to watch the election but only to hear what Ben, Robbo and Rob make of it”.
I get the response to my question is “well, why do anything”, but surely you stick to your strengths, which is not US Political coverage.
Yep!
Yes, and people apparently love that on telly!
I’ve always felt the thought behind Ticker as a whole isn’t just “we’re doing this for ratings” but “we’re proving it’s possible for a streaming network like this to exist and work”.
For now, it doesn’t really matter what they do, as long as they prove that the service has potential to continue working.
I don’t feel I can watch ticker though, I can’t cope with automation over quality of broadcast - even some of the commercial news are hard to watch these days.
Sky News’ coverage will also be shown live on Sky News on WIN this Wednesday from 9am AEDT. It will also be streamed live on the Australia Channel website for international viewers.
