2018 Ratings Predictions

It’ll be neck and neck in Melbourne, but AFL should easily beat MasterChef in Adelaide. All depends on how good the game is

2018 FIFA World Cup

Russia v Saudi Arabia: 200k (the worst game of the tournament combined with awful timeslot).
Spain v Portugal: 300k (difficult to tell how it will go really tbqh. 4am is a better timeslot and its a weekend and its a hyped up game, however SBS are replaying it immediately afterwards which could eat the live audience).
Australia v France: 2.3mil

Tonight:

Big AFL game, Sydney vs. West Coast, Seven will dominate.

Tomorrow:

FIFA World Cup: AUS vs. FRA: 1.4m. 500k in Sydney and 400k in Melbourne. ~23% main channel share for SBS.

But, and a big but, Seven and/or Nine will probably still beat SBS overall with multi-channels.

As for the soccer match, 1.4m would be enormous for SBS and easily be Number 1 and should be Number 1 channel. But haven’t predicted higher, because there are still many cricket and/or AFL fans who won’t watch soccer and depending on how good those session/game is.

No dount, a massive sports day. Also Rugby on Ten (I think they won’t stand a chance), NRL and US Open golf on Foxtel.

Australia Chile did a fair bit better than that 4 years ago at 8am in the morning.

What a massive night with live sports on four different networks in the same two hour timeframe (8pm to 10pm AEST). Soccer will dominate but I doubt it will get 1 million. Cricket will be distant second, then AFL and rugby union.

FIFA World Cup: France v Australia 0.91m
FIFA World Cup post-game 0.34m
