Pathetic headline
âAxedâ during the Olympics? What a silly headline.
Rested is a better term.
100% Footy and Footy Classified will not air during the Paris Olympics.
Gould hired a lawyer to contest the case, and the NRL has now changed the penalty. The breach notice will stand but the $20,000 fine is suspended for 12 months.
This is what you expect from that asshole Phil Rothfield. He constantly misrepresents issues and at times blatantly lies given his pay master is News Corp and they have an agenda against 9. As others have said the word ârestedâ or on hiatus wouldâve been better. They donât have the studio space so there are valid reasons for it.
The decision has shocked NRL bosses, who were not even told of the decision. They had no idea it was being ditched until your columnist phoned late last week with the news.
Itâs more a resourcing issue considering the Olympics coverage will be a all hands on deck situation.
On tonightâs episode, they showed the countdown to the NRL finals and it said something like â24 days, 2 min and a few secondsâ.
This suggests that the finals could start on a Thursday night; if that were to be the case, it would be the first time an NRL finals series has begun in this timeslot.
I am not sure if the first weeks of the Finals Series has aired on a Thursday before. But usually, week one is: 1 Friday night game, 2 Saturday games, and 1 Sunday arvo game
Looks like they might take away the Saturday arvo game and have it on Thursday night instead by the looks of it.
Is this confirmed?
Not yet. Letâs wait until the final ladder is settled and the first week finals draw is confirmed.
I wouldnât be against the idea of a Thursday night start to the NRL finals, though. The AFL has started their finals series with a Thursday night match since 2016, and only once (in 2021) did they not do so.

2025 Upfront announcement
Home of the biggest opinions from those who count, footy fans are the winners in 2025 as 100% Footy goes live every week on 9Now as the panel dissects the never-ending news cycle of the National Rugby League.
Hosted by James Bracey NRL on Nineâs flagship program going toe to toe on all the biggest issues, with plenty of news from the mailbag.
So glad that this show is returning in 2025. A simple, but enjoyable, panel show. And runs to the hour and never overtime. James Bracey smooths things along, which helps.
