Changes could include:
- 6pm bulletin reduced to 30 minutes
- Fair Go & Sunday teams to merge (having Hilary Barry host all three shows, including Seven Sharp)
- Tonight bulletin axed
- Axing of regional reporters (Central Otago, Bay of Plenty, Hawke’s Bay & Northland)
- Format change to Breakfast, including cuts to presentation team - reduced to two persons
- Te Karere production moves to Maori Television but remains on TVNZ linear and digital
- 1News & RNZ digital merge, including sites. Becomes one powerhouse platform for video and audio news stories - subscription model.
Outside of News:
- Shortland Street moves to 5:30pm timeslot, freeing up 7pm slot for a bigger drawcard show; stream first on TVNZ+, episode count reduces from 5x a week
- Closure of TVNZ Duke on linear, moves to digital only
- TVNZ+ moves to subscription model; basic with ads starts at $4.99 per month
