WIN News (2015-Feb 2025)

Little chance of that given Bruce is still releasing Crawfords product on DVD. Does Media Spy have a postal address or fax number?

It does have one of those.

Any government assistance should be DIRECTLY tied to local news output. There should be guarantee from broadcasters that NO local news be axed. And to get the funds, SCA should re-instate the 4 local bulletins it’s pulled.

Is there any promotion at all for Across Australia during WIN News? I note it will be running on both Good Friday and Monday on SNOW while WIN News is on its mini-break.

now speaking of win news ! win news should not be calling on the federal govt for money to save win tv . they have a billionare or a least muti-miolonare whos in beaumda called bruce for that. if bruce gordon really cared which he dont he would bail them out. and point 2 i can remember a time when i was younger watching win news and thinking how every story was local. the news stories were longer and they explained a lot in them. i belive to this every day dennis walter was a true news reader. and then eventually it had general info news but they always had some one from the local area to explain about what happening to get that local feel. then win news decied that when bruce roberts was reading i do belive it was live here in ballarat to drop the live news here in ballarat and take everything to wollongong. this was a bad idea imo because this was when win news went down hill and became like it is now . what win news should do is go back to be what they are claiming to be the only news here in victoria thats local for 30 minutes and not what they are doing now . there are only doing 3 or 4 local stories and with general info news they using people that arent local and trying to trick viewers into thinking there are

I’m pretty sure most of the regional networks (not just WIN) with 30 minute local bulletins have their share of stories from neighbouring areas and/or “generic regional issues” items to fill the gaps.

well then win news should say so. not every body knows its generic . people do stil do think its got something to do with win news western vic . and at least if its generic take down the win news western vic part of it

@JasonF this is the reality in 2020

It’s not so different to say 10 news first Sydney. Lots of general entertainment/ viral video / generic type news

Also not that different to a newspaper

I wonder why win uses local backdrops for updates but a generic national one for the actual news

Because the updates are pre-recorded and it is easier to change the background for these than for the live bulletin.

@foxyrover

The bulletins are pre-recorded too.

Why is it easier? It’s green screen. It’s the hit of a button

None of the WIN bulletins are live anymore. The national backdrop is used so they only have to record one introduction to stories that appear across multiple territories. The local backdrops look shit, anyway.

I think it’s because WIN cuts and past stories into multiply regions its easier to have a generic backdrop so errors are not made of you seeing a different regions backdrop

That makes more sense!

How good would this be:

Win News First

Missed opportunity with that promo by WIN News - I would’ve taken a swipe directly at Nine/SCA for suspending their regional news services by including the headline from TV Tonight or TV Blackbox.

They were running this promo in Canberra too. Doesn’t really work so well when the ABC does local news…
