Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?/Hotseat Revival

I was answering to DOND that’s been filmed already a while ago.

I’m thinking this will go at 7 and Deal move to 6:30 with an extend 10 news at 6.

I don’t really like the hot seat format so hopefully it isn’t an hour.

But why this show at all?

So many other great shows they could have resurrected.

Sale of the Century
Wheel Of Fortune
Blankety Blanks
The Price is Right

There must be a financial reason or something? Why choose a show that’s been on recently?

Gotta be cheaper rights

Press your Luck
Supermarket sweep

But yes I agree they should’ve done Wheel or Sale.

Maybe they think this will appeal to a younger audience and as 10 News+ has proven, the powers that be at 10 are never wrong.

I think 10 coukd of done Wheel or Sale to pair with Deal between 6:30 and 7:30 weeknights.

If i were 10, I would have tried 2 game shows as part of the evening viewing. Millionaire Hot Seat could have been 6:30pm Sunday (encore 7:30pm or 8:30pm Friday) and The Price Is Right or Supermarket Sweep at 7:30 Thursday with an encore at 6:30pm Saturday

I think I said it in another thread but I think Sale of the Century/Temptation would have been better - Natural Product Placement ($$$) + Compelling Format, particularly with returning champs.

That could easily be an 8:30 Monday - for around 10-15 eps, before HYBPA starts up for the year (I know they tried in that slot with Would I Lie to You).

I’m surprised 10 haven’t done it yet.

If 10 had 3 or 4 different game shows, celebrity specials could work at 8:30

The “format” was fomulated in Australia if I understand – the UK are making their own now.

It is a cheaper format in that once one question is wrong, the top amount is removed and so on…
What was the average money on 9’s Hot Set?

It’s also a Sony owned company producing it (and they own Millionare)

That must be a factor in price

This! But also make sure they throw some serious cash and prizes behind it. Make it so everyone wants to go on to win big.

I remember David Knox ran a comparrison of the 3 networks gameshows and 10 came out on top, with 9 and 7 lagging behind, but it was also only comparing the 3 new episodes being put out and not including the encore days, so i cant remember if 10 was giving away more because it had 5 new episodes a week, or if it was averaged across mon -wed only.

But 7 and 9 were also getting value for money by also being across 2 half hour slots. So itll be interesting to see if this is half hourly, if itll revert to how it was when it first started.

This is a more recent one he did.

I just think it’s a showing on how safe and boring 10 have become. We have seen it for a number of years now where 10 will revive old formats that had just finished up on networks. The network needs to complete overhaul and a fresh face further up the top.

They are all really guilty of that now, the 3 of them. Nine has the least success with it however as it cant rely on the oldies to prop up numbers like 7. Bachelor/Idol/Got Talent/Voice/Big Brother/Beauty+Geek/DWTS have all been playing channel swap.

Aussie Amazing Race & Aussie Survivor too

(Although they both had longer lay offs between iterations)

They are but I’ve never seen 7 or 9 take another afternoon show and try and make it a prime time offering. That for me is someone who has run out of ideas. I didn’t mind the giving dancing with the stars a go or even bringing back big brother but someone needs to ask Beverly to leave.

Could Getel Killeen be a possible host?

Unsure? Word on the street is a “prominent Australian female actor”.
