What if...? or "The Ones That Got Away..."

Regional viewers would still be losers. On some days when more than one sporting event takes place (e.g cricket v tennis in summer), the commercial channel would only have been able to choose the event which would be more popular or appealing, and show it in full.

What if Channel Ten had the rights to the Australian Open between 2015-19?

Schedule would have looked like this:

Main Channel
8:30am Studio 10 live from Melbourne Park
11:00am Australian Open morning session
5:00pm Ten Eyewitness News (tennis continues on Eleven until 7:00pm)
6:00pm The Project live from Melbourne Park
7:00pm Australian Open night session
12:30am informercials

One
11:00am Australian Open morning session
7:00pm Australian Open night session

Commentary team
Stephen Quartermain (morning host/commentator of men’s matches on Rod Laver Arena)
Brad McEwan (afternoon host)
Matthew White (evening host/commentator)
Greg Rust (host of One coverage)
Jim Courier (commentator)
John McEnroe (commentator)
Lleyton Hewitt (commentator)
Rennae Stubbs (commentator)
Sam Smith (commentator)
Mark Howard (reporter)
Roger Oldridge (reporter)
Alissa Smith (she was still at Ten at the time)
Tim Gossage (would’ve hosted Hopman Cup coverage)
Jonathan Williams (would’ve hosted Brisbane International coverage)
Matt Burke (would’ve hosted Sydney International coverage)

Note I did not consider Mel McLaughlin though she was at Ten at the time, she was the anchor of their Big Bash coverage.

And this (from their old AFL coverage) would’ve been great for the intro to their Australian Open coverage, except replace the AFL players with tennis players like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova etc.

unless your local station was owned by Prime, viewers would only get whatever Seven had.

A discussion on what if Television Stations reverted back to what was before the “2016 Regional Television Shake-Up”.

With WIN Television, NBN Television, SC9, SC7, SC10, 7QLD, TDT Television, DDT Television, CDT Television, Prime7 and GWN7. What would we see change (I mean it too, like not a joke).

What channels would be reshuffled and what regions would change?

One wonders “what if” the Flying Doctors went by its original working title, Dr Brava? Would it have been as successful

What if Nine purchased VIC TV in 1994 and turned it into an O&O station like Seven did in RQLD?

Would it have retained the name VIC TV?

Here’s one for you, what if WIN didn’t sell NWS and STW?

That was the beginning of the end IMO.

Jane Doyle used to work for ABC News in South Australia, she moved to 7 News about a year later.

And speaking of 7, Sandra Sully used to at channel 7, before she then went to join Channel 10, mentioned at 1:50

And finally, former 10 News reader, Rebecca Morse (who is on the thumbnail of the video above) once worked at the ABC according to Wikipedia, don’t know if it is true or not, but if it is, maybe she should of stayed at the ABC.

Bruce would’ve bought the whole Nine Network under WIN ownership. Sky News on Nine. Thank goodness it didn’t happened and STW and NWS are now O&O’ed under NEC

lol, the Sky News partnership was due to Ten’s subpar news and content output.

If Murdoch and Gordon won the bid for 10 in 2017 over CBS, will 10 be in this financial situation or worse?

What’s its financial situation now? Is it making a profit? Loss?

Not in a good position now if not worse than it was 10 years ago.

Source?

What if Channel 9 had launched state editions of A Current Affair like WIN did in Perth and Adelaide?

What if SAS 10 and ADS 7 were still around today? Would of Jane Doyle ended up at 10 and would of Rebecca Morse ended up at 7?

What if Sharyn Ghidella and John Schluter didn’t leave Nine at the end of 2006?

There’s no doubting their moves to Seven Brisbane helped to bolster their struggling news ratings, as was the case when Ian Ross was lured to Seven Sydney to boost their news ratings.

Another case of what if was when Kay and Rod were suddenly demoted from their weeknight positions nearly a decade ago, in favour of Bill McDonald and Sharyn Ghidella. I’m of the opinion that Bill was suddenly parachuted into the position and that turned the Brisbane news ratings landscape upside down.
