Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST)

Sattvguide and XMLEPG will be getting a pretty major update soon.

Thanks for sharing xmlepg.net , at least an alternative. Seemly though it doesn’t store EPG history, so the same as mysat. Hopefully both get a bit of an update and a mobile makeover.

When you say history, how far back in time are you wanting to browse the guide?

I just wanted very recent history, the weekend that just passed.

7 Central North had the AFL in the online schedule. I just went to settle in to watch the game and it’s actually not what’s on TV. I’m not sure if anyone has any knowledge why it seems to have the same programming as 7 Central South. The box is set as a traveller in Nth Qld.

That schedule would be wrong - only Adelaide is getting the game on FTA - as such, neither 7 Central North, nor 7 Central South, are airing it as these days they only take the games that air on 7 Melbourne.

Going to move into near the Victorian Alps, which the new house requires VAST in late July. I’ll be inactive in some parts.

I just completed the myswitch application form for VAST, got the Decoder and Satellite Dish ordered to come at Wednesday.

Where did you get the decoder and dish from?

Got an Altech UEC DSD4901PVR and a SatKing Satellite Dish.

Actually got to see the new Loop on 6th July and even the Regional News Guide Loop on YouTube! Just type in ā€˜vast loop’ and check it out yourself! The channel’s name is ā€˜QLD & NT Television Archive’.

I’m officially now in the new house, so now I can watch VAST.

You know, those regional news channels could make really good FAST channels. Just saying.

At least I can watch news in other areas! So you’re right!

Wild thought experiment but with VAST potentially becoming an even more critical service if more stations close down, does it have the ability to add extra programming feeds localised to each state?

i.e. splitting Victoria off from Central South into a new feed for them to receive the Melbourne channels and their state’s relevant news bulletin instead of Sydney news? Tasmania would likely join them since they already receive the Melbourne bulletins (except 6pm on Seven).

SA may be too sparsely populated to be separated on its own, but it may be better served by the Melbourne bulletins coming from an AFL capital rather than a rugby capital?

QLD and NT would likely stay combined due to DST, and it also pairs with Darwin receiving Brisbane bulletins.

7 and 10 already get Melbourne on VAST South (9 gets the Sydney bulletin), which I think works well given that’s aligned with the footballing preferences.

I think it’s odd there’s not metro versions of the ā€œregionalā€ news channels. Like someone should be able to watch Seven Sydney or 10 Adelaide etc on VAST.

I don’t think there’s call for further splitting the feeds, but more news channels would fix that odd access gap.
