I find the Scenic Loop at the Regional News was using an abismal quality, as I don’t see any retro things that interrupt the screen even though it was recorded in 2002 to 2004.
Update: It’s those black specks you usually see from movies from the 1920s to the early 2000s or the late 1990s.
I just found out mainly VIC and TAS residents don’t mainly get VAST whenever it’s due to reception there or they get Fetch, Hubbl or Foxtel.
There’s parts of Victoria which are certainly eligible for VAST.
I’d say more and more homes around the inner city will have to get VAST due to apartment buildings coming up in every direction and therefore attenuating the signal but by then a lot of homes will probably have moved to streaming
Anyone can get VAST, but which channels you’re eligible for depends on your access to terrestrial broadcasts.
If you can get terrestrial, you can only activate for ABC/SBS/Narrowcasters. Registration for that is at https://www.myvast.com.au/vast
If you’re in an area where you can’t get terrestrial (even in metro areas), or you are a traveller, you can activate commercial channels in addition to the others. To do that, you register via https://www.mysattv.com.au/ or contact the call centre.
Many people don’t understand this difference and when trying to get the narrowcasters in an area with reliable terrestrial, they try registering with mysattv.com.au and get rejected. Part of this issue is that it’s not well advertised and myvast.com.au doesn’t appear in the first page of results in a search engine.
When I stayed in Howman’s Gap, there was a high pitched pixel sound when I changed the channel (when I changed the channel from 418 to 419), and I was very scared if it was going to be broken, but it didn’t. Is there something wrong with the box? But if you don’t know, you can go to Howman’s Gap, stay there for approx. 3 days at the cottage and you’ll find out. If you live in Victoria, then maybe you’ll know. I also would like to see it on video, along with the channel surf via this discussion or YouTube because there was already a VAST WA channel surf/Average TV Day, posted by WAtvVideos.
