I hope 7 sees how popular The Rookie (given it gets about 400-500k live & gets 800-900k after 7 days) and somewhat fast tracks (1 month late) to air after Aus Idol on Monday instead of waiting until Aug/Sept like they did this year
When even Sonia Kruger mentioned The Rookie during The Voice semi final last Sunday night (and it was filmed back in early April) you know the drama is popular.
Have you heard of cross-promotion and free publicity?
So they’ve announced 1,000 mainly US based layoffs in round one with another 1,000 to come from international divisions. I’m sure there will be some worried executives and others at Pyrmont.
At midnight U.S. eastern time (3pm AEDT), Disney networks have officially gone dark on YouTube TV. It includes, but not limited to, ESPN nets and ABC.
There goes viewership for CFB, NFL, NBA and from November 3, CBB.
YTTV statement:
We know this is a frustrating and disappointing outcome for our subscribers and we continue to urge Disney to work with us constructively to reach a fair agreement that restores their networks to YouTube TV. If their content remains off YouTube TV for an extended period of time, we’ll offer subscribers a $20 credit.
ESPN statement:
It has been noted that the upcoming Game 6 of the World Series is the 100th WS game MLB Network has covered since its launch in 2009.
More reasons for the Jays to close it out, maybe?
We know how disruptive it is to lose channels you enjoy, and we’re committed to continuing to work with Disney to reach an agreement. If their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we'll offer our members a $20 credit. For updates, visit https://t.co/fn10CU7gfP.

A response from ABC ESPN - wants viewers to complain to YT
Contact YouTube TV and let them know you want your favorite networks back.
Speak up now. Your voice can make a difference.
According to the three execs, YouTube TV pulled Disney’s channels from the service — prior to the midnight ET expiration of the previous carriage deal — with “no advance notice to their subscribers, or to us. In doing so, they not only cut off access to our live programming but also deleted all previously recorded shows and events from their subscribers’ libraries.”
… a Google spokesperson said Disney was asking for deal terms “that would raise prices on our customers” and that the decision to hike prices “directly harms our subscribers while benefiting their own live TV products, including Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.” YouTube said that if Disney’s content remains off YouTube TV “for an extended period of time,” it will offer subscribers a $20 one-time credit.
No suitable thread so have to settle here for World Series viewership numbers. The first truly global one in (recent?) memory.
Data through Game 5 (weekend ratings released Wed/Thu)
Other notes:
- G3’s 18-inning blockbuster saw 11.16M viewers tuning in, but Nielsen only counts it through the end of FOX’s sold ad load (14th inning). However, according to FOX’s Mike Mulvihill, there were still 8M at the 2:50am ET conclusion.
- FOX’s absolute viewership peak was 16.7M at G4’s 10-10:15pm ET timeframe.
- Sportsnet said G5 was the most-watched Jays game ever. 19.3M had tuned in at some point.
- In Japan, G1 attracted 11.8M on NHK-G, now the country’s most-watched WS game ever on a single network. G2 was 9.5M.
Baseball MLB might comeback to FTA Channels next Season for the 1ST time in 13 or 14 years?
Games already air on Fox throughout the regular season.
They were talking about FTA channels in Australia based on their post history.
I’m saying no on that. These games will be filling the tertiary multichannel at best.
ESPN is, meanwhile, already barely live in the mid-winter offseason. It will just be a constant testcard if MLB is gone.
Given this is the US Television thread, that context needed to be provided, or ideally the post made in the appropriate thread (Sports Broadcasting in Australia is probably the best place for it)
Disney is asking YouTube TV to restore its ABC programming on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) so its subscribers can watch the network’s election coverage.
YouTube TV says thanks but no thanks to Disney's pitch to restore ABC to its platform for election coverage.
— Joe Flint (@JBFlint) November 3, 2025
"There are plenty of other options for customers - election news information is very widely available across other broadcast stations and news networks on YouTube TV, as…
As you know, Disney can continue to livestream news information on the ABC News YouTube page, which has 19.1M subscribers, and its ABC local stations can also do so on their YouTube pages.
Ratings for game 6 were not available.
Quick, try to come up with something. Only 56 days left.
The disaster keeps disastering. At this point, I’m not expecting this to be resolved this month.
Which would mean, at least for the next 7 days:
- Loss of tonight’s packed CFB slate
- Brazilian GP
- Eagles-Packers on MNF
- Lakers-Thunder on Thursday
- All the events E never realizes the potential to fill gaps on ESPNEWS
Customers are exploring other options, including, yep, subscribing directly to E. Can’t blame them.
With any taking over international distribution from 1 Dec, Wheel may not be seen on 10 into the future. I’d take it they’re getting it on the cheap and Sony may be able to sell it for more money.
