Someone posted a tv guide on reddit from 2001 showing channel 7 were showing NBC today show from 1:10am- 3:10am. Not sure what the delay would have been. Does anyone know how long it was like this?

I think they showed the full program (was 2 hours back then) since at least the late 80s. For sometime they also showed NBC Nightly News, although not sure if it was during the day or overnight.

Weekday mornings for NBC Nightly News, sometime in the mid-90s. It was mentioned in this or another history thread 6-12 months ago.

Hasn’t it always been delayed? I remember Seven would add a “Delayed Broadcast” text at the start of the show

Here in Melbourne, from some time in 1985 they showed 7 hours of news overnight on Tuesday-Saturday morning from midnight to 7am, consisting of NBC Today (2 hours), Daybreak (a CNN program) (2 hours), Channel 7 news (30 minutes), Channel 7 Current Affairs (30 minutes) and Daywatch (a CNN program) (2 hours). So they would have to start at or around midnight to fit it all in before the next day’s programs.

Later they only showed NBC Today, so they could start it at any time overnight.

Most of the time, yes.

Here in Melbourne, when it was on at midnight, it would be delayed compared to the US eastern timezone, but it would be on at the same time as one of the other US mainland timezones. Exactly which timezone depended on whether we had daylight saving or the US did at that time. So for example, in our summer, Melbourne would see it before Los Angeles.

There were exceptions. For example, during a certain hijacking of a plane, Today went till at least midday New York time, so Channel 7 here in Melbourne showed the 10am-midday part of the show live, as it corresponded to midnight-2am here.

Did Seven also air Meet the Press overnight at some point?

Yes on Sunday-Monday overnight. I think it was at midnight.

Yes, ran for many years on Monday mornings paired with a one-hour NBC Today. We also had Dateline NBC for many years.

I remember watching it when it first started showing here, was always started right at midnight. I’d be of the impression that we were watching it live to air. I wasn’t quite clever enough yet to figure out that the timezone difference meant we were seeing it a few hours delayed! Took me a while to come to that realisation

One on the back of the news of Dawn Kenyon’s passing - how many versions of Romper Room were there?

I knew ATN and NBN had versions, but I suspect there are more

QTQ9, Brisbane, had a version of Romper Room in the early-mid 1960s.

SAS10 in Adelaide produced a version of Romper Room for about 10 years until the mid-1970s. Michele Kenny, who I think was a former school teacher, was “Miss Michele”. IIRC this program was also shown on ATV0 in Melbourne, not sure about other cities.

Does anyone remember what the FTA networks did to celebrate the death of Michael Jackson? I already know that the ABC dedicated a RAGE block to him, but I’m curious about the other networks, especially 10 (since Video Hits was still airing back then).

Sounds rather morbid to be doing that? Commemorate would be the better term.

I remember on Melbourne commercial radio Fox FM played an hour of nothing but Michael Jackson songs. I was working at a major bank at the time and that station was piped throughout the building much to my annoyance!

Not TV but i know that with radio the Hot 30 Countdown allowed people to vote for Michael Jackson songs

Anyone in NSW remember this short-lived subscription channel?

I do and there is still a relic left of the Club Superstation days at the Moonee Beach Tavern north of Coffs Harbour. Pic is from Google and not that great but you can make it out.

One of three sports channels started in the mid-80s along with Sky Channel and Sportsplay.
