TV History - Questions

Anyone remember Channel Ten’s Just for the Record with Garry Who, originally shown 1988-89?

One of the promos for the series was just Garry “rapping” to the camera, something like:

“I’ve been twisted and turned til I’m black and blue
I’ve been shouted at and shot at and bored right through
I’ve been tickled and kissed by the girls I woo
Oh, and just for the record, I’m Garry Who!”

The promo was certainly played around July/August 1988. I wonder if anyone has a recording of it? I’ve searched through the YouTube promo/ads compilations, so far without success.

Sorry if this cheeky request is better suited to another thread.

WIN bought DDQ and RTQ just prior to television amalgamations in 1990

Thanks, #myfriend,…

Ok, here’s another question… #myfriend:

note at the blue “( )” that I highlighted, think about PRIME/GWN (-2011), SCTV (-2018) #myfriend

remote vs regional (unaggregated) vs regional (aggregated) vs metro (QLD) vs metro

What do u think about design quality, #myfriends ??? (88-89 standard)

First person gets a love heart…

Was scanning YouTube and with recent events, who is this Ten News journalist (assuming from Sydney), at Maxine McKew camp during 2007 Election where PM John Howard famously lost his own seat?

Thought it might’ve been a Political Reporter, but it’s not Paul Bongiorno, Brad Hodson or Jacqueline Maddock the ones at the time, so no.

Edit
Footage from ABC News on the night.

I think that might be Kevin Wilde? Was a reporter at the ABC for a decade, became a Senior Reporter for Ten Sydney in 2001, then to Nine Sydney in 2008 and became their NSW State Politics reporter, but left TV news in 2014 and is now working behind the scenes for the state government.

What I probably remember most about Kevin Wilde’s reporting: Him introducing us to a family in his 2012 NSW Budget report that we’ve since seen quite a lot of on their lounge over the past few years!

I don’t know about when they were first used, but I don’t think I’ve seen one from Seven, Nine or Ten since about 2004? (Ten were the last to stop using them I think?).

I really hope they make a comeback soon, TV feels a bit bland without them.

Obscure question I know:
I have come across two VHS tapes which according to the label have the Lindy Chamberlain miniseries Through My Eyes on them. I don’t have a working VCR so can’t watch the material on the tapes.
Apparently part 1 aired on Seven on November 23, 2004 but does anyone know when part 2 aired? I have intentions of coverting the tapes and uploading the presenation/news updates to YouTube sometime so the dates would be reference for that.

According to The Age, part two aired the following evening, Wed 24 Nov 2004:

don’t know where to ask, so I will ask here: what TV news graphics technologies did they (and other stations/network around the world) use before virzt, #myfriends ???

I’m not sure exactly, perhaps a good question for someone who worked in the industry while VizRT systems were being introduced.

The Nine Network O&O stations were likely the first major Australian broadcasters to adopt the system around Early 2004. Overseas, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if a broadcaster in Europe was running the system before then.
