Problem is 7-Eleven doesn’t have stores in every state and territory, so some Velocity members will miss out on getting extra points.
Oh. Which states aren’t they in?
SA / TAS / NT.
It’s a good partnership, they’re the last big fuel retailer that doesn’t have a partnership with either an airline, auto club or a supermarket.
Adelaide surprises me. I thought it might be NT. Interesting.
I also think the positioning of the ‘new’ Virgin aligns quite well with 711.
I’d rather if they were still in partnership with BP.
I still remember when Virgin Australia started as ‘Virgin Blue’.They were a ‘no frills’ airline ,no free snacks, etc. All their aircraft used to be painted red, they really stood out ,not anymore
Yeah, it was a little odd using Virgin’s red colour when they had blue in their name. It always seemed like a temporary name.
The Blue came from how most redheads are usually nicknamed,’Bluey’
October was always predicated on Morrison’s ridiculously optimistic promise of vaccinating the entire population by then.
The Queensland Government launched a new $4 million travel voucher scheme this morning. The vouchers will give visitors 50% off certain tourism and accommodation experiences, and will be available for people travelling in Brisbane and the Whitsundays.
Has anyone else flown the new Rex Jet flights?
Did one yesterday for something different last minute as Virgins seat map was chockers and apparently they are the same Virgin aircraft.
I was one of 4 people on the flight. Four.
Are all flights like this? I asked the cabin member she sort of deflected the question didn’t want to talk about it.
It has been implied in aviation circles online that this is normal, especially for MEL-SYD / SYD-MEL on weekends. Not sure about the leisure routes… the last time the media tried to raise this with Rex they claimed that Qantas was booking flights to spy on their numbers which is just absurd as you don’t have to try very hard to find out competitors pax numbers if you work at an airport and know your way around.
I thought they normally cancel flights and merge them if numbers are low. That’s happened to me twice with Jetstar
Rex probably saving face, if they suddenly cut frequency to one per day due to low pax numbers it would be picked up and pointed out very, very quickly by the media.
The experience didn’t really blow me away. Found it sort of bizarre.
Felt very odd flying in a Virgin aircraft, they literally have kept the seats and all. No menu to purchase from only free tea and coffee so I would never use them long haul domestic or anything. No FF program either and the fare was the same as Virgin.
However would still use over Jetstar.
I get keeping the seats, but not changing the upholstery / internal livery or the purple business / economy divider to me screams how permanent they see this venture if it doesn’t go the way they want.
I do genuinely wonder how long they’re giving themselves in terms of making money off the jet services or if they’ll mess about with routes a bit more before they throw in the towel. Part of me thinks that they took a gamble that Virgin would liquidate or downsize further than Bain has downsized it under new ownership and they lost.
What route did you fly? I went from Avalon to Gold Coast on Jetstar a few weeks ago and it was full to the brim, on the way home too. It really shocked me, especially considering it was the Avalon route.
Rex airlines Sydney to Melbourne. They have a couple of jets.
^i got burnt with Avalon in the past with cancellations I just assumed nobody flew down there.
Perhaps they should become a budget airline. Sydney to Melbourne is largely hand baggage market people want the $20/$30 cheaper fare
