Adelaide has/had flights to Doha with Qatar and this year had the launch of flights to San Francisco with United. Regional is used as a way to classify smaller capacity airports on SkyTrax (ScamTrax iykyk).
Adelaide being classified as a regional airport means in some air service agreements between Australia and another country, it is not subject to capacity constraints imposed on flights to and from the four major airports - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
I got to use the new aerobridge at Newcastle Airport when I flew back from Melbourne on Thursday.
Felt a bit surreal doing that in a regional airport like my hometown of Newcastle!
Singapore Airlines will launch its first direct flight from the Lion City to Western Sydney Airport on November 23.
The daily non-stop service between Changi and western Sydney will (depart Changi at 11.30am and) have incoming arrivals touching down at 10.20pm in Sydney, and outgoing passengers departing at 11.55pm for a 5.05 am arrival time in Changi.
Then they take a look at Western Sydney and fly straight back. ![]()
It’s terrible. Used it a few weeks ago and I was more comfortable on a Jetstar flight.
Update on this:
Last week was getting pretty frustrating as we were2 weeks out from travelling and Qatar Airways had only announced refund options up to 28 March. Thankfully, last Friday they finally extended the refund window to the end of April, so we requested a refund straight away.
Given that we already had time off work, we’d started looking into Fiji as alternative trip. But by the time Qatar announced the refund extension to our dates, prices had jumped significantly for Fiji. So instead, we’ve booked Vanuatu for six days and are flying to Port Vila on Easter Sunday. Flights were still on the pricey side (long weekend plus fuel increases, I assume), but still cheaper than what our Oman trip or a trip to Fiji would have been.
Has anyone been to Port Vila? Any tips? We are staying a couple nights in Port Vila and then 3 nights on the other side of the main island (Banana Bay, right near Blue Lagoon). Just expecting it to be a pretty chilled week.
Jetstar’s Sunshine Coast - Denpasar (Bali) - Singapore service was launched today. Flights commence next Monday (March 29) and will operate three times per week.
Whilst this relates to holidays. It also says a lot about the postal services. I am old school in that i like to send postcards. But this week i got texts from people in my circle saying that they have only just recieved the ones i sent from Las Vegas and Hawaii. I have been home for 3 weeks
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) introduced a new global rule regarding lithium battery-powered power banks and portable chargers, on Friday, March 27.
Under the new rule, each passenger can carry two devices onboard, but they must remain in their cabin baggage and under the seat in front, and cannot be recharged in flight. Flight crew members will still be permitted to carry and use the power banks in accordance with aircraft operational requirements.
Considering that most airlines on long haul flights have USB port access you probably wouldn’t really need to use a powerbank. This would probably more a thing on short haul flights
The short haul planes I’ve been on eg SYD to MEL have them too… it might only be ones like Rex that might not have them.
I think you just need to plan ahead and charge accordingly eg. charge at or before you leave for the airport.
Alliance Air don’t have them. In fact they have no entertainment or WiFi. But i have only been to Brisbane with them so for just over an hour i can live with that. Plus Airports have plenty of outlets where you can charge your devices
I understand Qantas is slowly replacing Alliance flights with its new A220. I have yet to fly on one of these but from all reports they are a good ride compared to Alliance. I’ve flown the new Jetstar Neo and I found the seats pretty bad.
Gone are the days of a good plush thick economy seat. Seats today are all wafer thin. I found the new Virgin seats a bit better as they had a ripple like leather padding, the Jetstar seat was like sitting on concrete. Jo idea how people can do these on all those overnight flights back from Bali.
From tomorrow (April 1), Qantas will be serving Neil Perry’s Cafe Margaret American cheeseburger in the first class cabin of its A380 planes from Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles, Singapore and Dallas, replacing the steak sandwich.

Will it have orange coloured cheese? ![]()
