There was fog around Brisbane Airport this morning though not as bad as yesterday.
Left Brisbane early this morning on a Jetstar flight to Townsville,I’m here until Saturday night.
While on my aircraft I could see about 5 more behind lined up waiting to takeoff , I thought there would be more of a delay then there was.
Yes I’m such a plane nerd :airplane:if I find a cheap fare I take advantage and it’s usually cheaper to fly mid week,I can do that now.

I’m like that with hotels… I’ll often watch the prices and see when the rates are cheaper, and take advantage of it and build something around that.

Like now, I’m in Sydney for 2 nights where I got a nice room for less than usual.

How much can a Koala bear?

The koala-ty of those jokes is under appreciated.

after the failures of bonza and REX i’d be pretty wary as a traveler booking on anyone other than Virgin, Jetstar and Qantas. id be worried about being stranded at my destination because of a bankruptcy

Qantas has posted an underlying profit before tax of $2.08 billion for the financial year, down 16 per cent on the year prior.

It had a statutory profit after tax of $1.25 billion for the 2023-24 financial year. Its net debt is at $4.1 billion, which the company said is within target range.

Lipstick on a pig seems to be the theme of the day at the flying kangaroo.

Seriously? How much more would it cost them to install IFE at the very minimum in every seat. Virtually every other airline is doing that with their new fleet yet Qantas insists on going backwards.

There are other airlines who are opting out of having screens for planes used on short routes.

I flew Zurich to Berlin on Swiss Air. This is considered a “domestic” flight these days and this smaller plane had no screens.

Jetstar’s A320s that are used Australian domestic routes don’t have screens. I see most passengers watching movies or TV on their iPads ,etc

That’s fine for short flights within Europe which can be < 1 hour. When Qantas wants to fly these jets on Perth-Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane which can be up to 4-5 hours then it’s really just penny pinching from Qantas.

How much would they save by not having entertainment anyway? It’s not like it will cost them a bomb to run it given they’ve already got the system for their widebodies.

I agree that the Perth to east coast flights are longer and should offer customers more but it’s not going to kill you rawdogging it there too.

For me I don’t really mind either way (given that I’d prefer to use the Wi-Fi for surfing) but for many entertainment is something that has value on a longer flight (especially for families with kids). I know BYO is trendy and all but there is still demand for built-in IFE overall. Otherwise why would airlines like Singapore Airlines and Emirates invest in it even though they also have flights that are the same length (or even shorter) than a Sydney-Melbourne? Not to mention United Airlines over in the states where they’re upgrading all their aircrafts with state-of-the-art IFE and interiors for similar length domestic flights.

For Qantas to try and brand themselves as a ‘luxurious’ airline that is top of the class in Australia this sort of cost-cutting is a joke.

Home again in Brisbane ,and on time too👍I could see the Gateway Bridge from the plane window just before landing and I knew it was flying over my place .
I always choose a window seat and just hope I don’t need to get up to use the loo , most times I don’t

According to Reuters citing an unnamed source, the incident involved a problem with a fuel nozzle, a component that directs fuel inside the engine.
