It’s not like 9 would completely reformat Today, nearly all breakfast shows follow the similar format. All they’d do is change the presenters and it’s not like they’re doing a bad job on the east coast. As long as they can maintain the east coast wins, I don’t think 9 will really worry.

There is room for something a bit more fresh as there’s 3 essentially identical formats. A three hander with more news discussions like Morning Joe / Fox and Friends but not as political.

The media diary colum only runs a few stories each week and they’re always the same: today show and it’s hosting, bagging the ABC about something, a hit job on 10news+.
This week they even managed to entwine the potential ep of 7:30 with “woke nightly gibberfest” the project.

They are really missing The Project now. Maybe they should fund a reboot just so they have guaranteed click bait every day. 
Absolutely! This Jackson guy in The Australian seems to make things up under the guise of “sources tell Diary”. Same with Sarah Abo allegedly being chased by Seven Melbourne. It’s all BS to fill his column.
Don’t rule out insiders flying kites to see how various things land publicly…

In a statement to Mediaweek, a Nine spokesperson said the broadcaster remains firmly behind its breakfast pairing, citing commitments made publicly months ago.
“We’re incredibly proud of our Today team and the work they’ve been doing in an already busy 2026 and delighted that, as announced at the Nine Upfronts back in October, Sarah and Karl continue to lead the incredible Today team in what will be a big year full of headlines and events that affect the lives of our viewers.”

I think that’s a better schedule than in 2024 for ‘TODAY’. What was the ratings when K&S hosted the Olympics in Paris during the morning session?
