Really hope this doesn’t happen. I like Karl and Sarah.
Can’t see Sam working longterm other than using her for headline grabs.
Too much change next year on Today if the weekend team is once again changing when Clint leaves.
However I do reckon pairing her with her friend Woi to host a three day program from their home town of Melbourne would be a great move. Sarah could probably be convinced to accept a deal that allowed her to be paid the same amount for a 3 day work week that allowed her to return to Melbourne
Didn’t ‘Bringing Sexy Back’ tank when Samantha hosted that in 2014? I don’t even recall if the full series actually aired.
I didn’t mind Samantha hosting over Xmas/New years. But at the same time I can see others points. Her tenure at Sunrise turned incredibly toxic in the last few years she was there.
I don’t mind Sarah but I was expecting her to come across more vocal than what she is when she started, but this show feels way to Karl Stefanovic centric and I hate to say it but she seems to hold back. When I listened to her on nova last week or the week before, was so entertaining hearing her speak without that clown (Karl) either cross talking her or being on his pedestal. But hey Radio & TV are completely different, but would like to see that side to Sarah more.
If this is true then Nine are seriously cooked. Sarah is fantastic. Hopefully 7 will poach her and by 2030 we’ll have Sunrise with Sarah and Woi. Think that would be the dream team.
Breakfast TV is very market dependent. The introduction of Sarah has helped boost Today in the Melbourne market that is the biggest in Australia. Seems foolish to throw that away; I think the market would notice and respond.
Today seems to be quite competitive on the east coast now. Changing the female half of the presenting team is very risky and likely to backfire in Melbourne and Brisbane. The lack of traction in Adelaide, Perth and regional areas is more a Seven/AFL preference in those markets and a change of host is unlikely to have any impact.
Today’s problem isn’t the hosts, it is Sunrise - it’s current team is too good. I think they should settle for the occasional 5-city win and consistent wins on the east coast where potentially the money is to be made from advertisers.
