@Reece While Stuff, which now produces ThreeNews and has replaced Newshub as of tonight (6 July), is actually headquartered in Wellington, ThreeNews itself is produced in the same building as Newshub. Stuff also has an Auckland office.
First nine minutes was very smooth, no errors and overall a really good looking VR set. No complaints from me
I know
Iron out the lighting and no need for a real set imo. This VR/AR whatever it is, is sufficient. Obviously a real life version of it would look nice too but I see no faults.
I wonder if itâs a network thing? Because the âexclusiveâ watermark is right under it.
The first edition of ThreeNews is only a half hour bulletin, similar to the bygone era. Since 1999 and 2001 respectively, the weekend news ran for an hour and initially featured full sporting news round-ups like Super Sports Sunday.
Similar to the Stuff logo.
TKâs story felt very Sunday-esque, good to see Stuff going for more longform exclusives.
Suzuki remains the sponsor of the sports segment, imagine Meridian still has the weather.
I have an update. It seems that, like News First (in which its final broadcast was shown on Sky Open last night), Laura Tupou presents all the weekendâs news, sport and weather.
Meridian doesnât appear to be sponsoring the weather.
Letâs be honest, plenty of us had our doubts with about how a print and online news outlet could produce a 6pm TV news bulletin, especially with the timeframe involved but I think Stuff should be pretty pleased with what it produced tonight. No its not Newshub, but many of the reporters tonight were former ones, it will be interesting to see when the stuff âprintâ reporters make it on to the screen. I will continue watching the bulletin moving forward.
Itâs still too soon to say but tonight went smoothly. It was only half an hour though, and filling a 60 minute bulletin is more difficult.
100 percent agree. They did a good job and should be proud of pulling it off.
One thing to work on is the weather in terms of timing and filling blank space with some music during the weather, perhaps.
Loved the longform stories, and having Paula back on also felt like this was a return to the old days, in a good way.
I suggest simplifying the faux background/s. Too many components that donât seem to have a purpose.
Iâve got to say overall very impressed. You can tell that it still has itâs roots in Newshub style in itâs story telling, rundown and graphics but it is incorporating the online/social aspect of Stuff.
The VR/AR studio is simple reminds me of ITV News. A few adjustments to them and it works pretty well and loving the use of the purple in the graphics. There were some minor problems, the last update with no audio and when we returned from one break it was a black screen for 10 seconds. It is minor but youâd want to be on top of them especially for Monday when youâve got an hour to fill and catering to a bigger audience.
I look forward to seeing what we can expect on the weekday bulletin.
Well done to all involved. I liked it being half an hour too, a pity that is not for weekdays as well!
This looks better than I expected. That virtual set looks stunning. Absolutely shits all over 7 News Perth - this is how a virtual set should look.
Iâd argue it almost looks better than 1 News too. The graphics package is definitely better than 1.
Would they only be using the virtual set until they move to Stuffâs newsroom? Or are they going to have a virtual set permanently.
