The Project 🪦

Nobody retired. They were made redundant.

You’ve found three stories in years of reporting. And the third story wasn’t even mine. I references it on INSIDE MEDIA and credited the source.

This is just proving my point.

You guys just can’t accept that people don’t like this show and (some) of its presenters.

No other show gets this treatment here. For some reason The Project is untouchable on this forum.

And no other show gets bashed as much as The Project does, warranted or unwarranted.

I agree with you on that.

There is a difference between a comedian doing it in a bit and Elon musk doing it, which was the point I made in the video.

Rob, just let it go. You’re not always right neither you nor your website have a perfect track record.

Over the years, there have been plenty of statements that turned out to be inaccurate.

The issue is, when something is wrong, you rarely correct or update it. That’s the real problem.

I haven’t watched a full episode of the show since 2013 until tonight, so I actually don’t LOVE the show.
I’d see feature stuff mostly on social from it and areas they cover that the commercial networks wouldn’t bother with. Cancer fundraising - community TV advocacy in not shutting them off air (to name a very small few)
Why don’t you criticize ACA or Spotlight or 60mins on the stories they run to the same level? It’s not untouchable. It wasn’t a perfect show. Charlie used to drive me nuts and I still can’t stand him…

You say I’ve proven your point, but how have I? I’ve stated facts and you are in the opinion that regardless of whatever anyone says the show is bad. I don’t think it was great tbh in the end no. It got tired so for me it wasn’t bad or good. It was just… Meh.
But knowing the industry, I know that a lot of people worked hard on that show and I’m not saying just presenters. The people behind the scenes. Those people now don’t have a job. Neighbours is ending so they can’t get a job there, and there hasn’t been any new investment in any stable long term productions in Melbourne for them. That’s what I feel for which you may not understand.

Its like me saying ā€œI’ll never go to Coles again because one checkout operator was rude to meā€ I would be brandishing a whole company with the same brush over one person. I don’t have to agree with everything they did, but I appreciate what it did for the TV industry in keeping people working in a field that they love and it’s bloody hard to get long term work in now.

I think you’ll also find a number of us actually do give support to shows, namely myself for Australian drama which is hardly invested in now - I would go into bat for that massively and still will.

I know you’re unlike to reply to this David. But that’s my view. Don’t make out like I’m a fanboy because I’m actually not. I’m an industry fanboy who supports and champions my colleagues in the industry who need to put food on the table and want to do what they love for work.

Ladies, gents and self-described attack helicopters.
Let us all mourn the demise of an icon of Australian TV without the bickering.
Thank you The Project for 16 years of glorious moments. I’ve grown up with it and literally can’t imagine anything else in the 6.30 slot on 10.:saluting_face:

Gross self-indulgence from the cast tonight of the final Project, and running well overtime to boot. All that wailing and self pity about their demise. Imho, that was increasingly The Project’s big problem in recent years…the cast thought they were more important than the audience. Stroking each other’s egos constantly. You were a TV program, thats all. Put away your tissues. I think we will survive within you.

She isn’t even cold yet…

I reject this claim about Lisa. I dont like Lisa Wilkinson, but feel that Lisa has been blamed, when in fact, like many others, Lisa and 10 were used by people from the far right and people made money from it. Notice that since Brittany Higgins received a huge payout, little has been said about her getting a new job despite her compensation payments included a payment for not being able to work.

Channel 7 were big on going after competitors

Hahahaha
How silly of me.
You were merely referencing an article on Inside Media
An article posted on a publication you co-own.
But you’re not to blame at all. No conflict of interest at all

You made a huge claim about The Project editorial standards.

It is reasonable to ask for proof when you make such a massive allegation.
How do I know it’s reasonable? You always asked for proof and examples when the same claims are directed at you.

There are plenty of things I know about the industry I have never reported for various reasons. You can either accept that or continue to disbelieve me.

I accept you will believe I’m lying.

Also they only axed Studio 10 after she left when it was Tristan, Ange and Nerelda left.

How did this become a pile on Rob? He wasnt even part of this show.

that controversy hurt the show in more ways than one and they never recovered.

I didn’t watch the entire week, so she may have had more to say on previous eps. But tonight she didn’t even say goodnight.

Perhaps she didnt feel she could say her piece tonight with the likes of Carrie and Hughesy on the show.
