The Project (2020-Feb 2025)

So was the show Live Live tonight? If so you could kinda tell…

The headline should read By having a lead in of over half a million, The Project picked up more viewers.

Also finishing at 8pm in Sydney and Melbourne made it inconvenient to change to another network in the middle of a program.

And because it had the overrun even moreso.

Your obsession is known. Don’t watch it then. We do. I at least watch a couple a week, and they are not rigid at all.

As a big Sarah Harris fan, he can’t not watch.

I was talking about how the show started and what it was intended for and who is now on it.

Yeah. People left and new people replaced them. It’s inevitable.

Na Drew is right. The Project as it is now is a completely different show to The 7PM Project that launched in 2009.

So is Sunrise, so is Today, so is Studio 10, so is the evening news. :stuck_out_tongue: They all evolved. Not always for the better.

Arguably for the better though. The Project is certainly not better now than it was back in the day.

You should go back and watch some of the first shows they did on YouTube. It is actually very hard to watch. It took them quite a while to figure out what they were actually about and to find their feet. They made a lot of changes to the format in the first couple of years.

Many would argue that the show was probably at its peak with Carrie/Charlie/Hughesy or even in the early days of Carrie/Waleed/Pete. Whatever the case, people will always complain about hist changes and new directions. The same happens on all the other shows I mentioned.

I think when Charlie and Hughesy left. It became very newsy than a comedian-news panel.

If they loosened it up a bit and put it strictly at 9.30 weeknights, it would probably do better than up against the nightly news. I do think an alternative is probably necessary, like DoND or something else general entertainment and start primetime at 7pm.

If Grant Denyer hosting a 6pm gameshow wasn’t enough of a sign, I don’t think 10 is about to take any risks these days with the lineup. Even if a lighter comedy-news Project would perform better.

They have Clementine Ford on tonight. That should be interesting…

Susie in the hosting chair tonight! Is this her first time?

All ‘comedians’ tonight. It’d be interesting if the tone of the show is any better

I like it for Fridays. A lighter brighter tone is good.
