I wonder if it’s been dubbed into French as they are one of a few European countries that still prefer dubbed over subtitles.

Yes, the drama has been dubbed into French and German.

Been waiting six weeks now for your take on the final episode @TelevisionAU :slightly_smiling_face:

(I waited until after the final episode aired to post the link, as the article contains some spoilers on what events were mentioned in each episode)

I thought Dale’s “on-camera” breakdown was played way OTT. I get that he was parodying a sketch comedy send-up that was made of him, but it was just so over exaggerated. I think there must have been other ways to portray his breakdown. The way it was done was almost comical, and (perhaps, I admit, this is a stretch) could almost be seen to mock current day presenters who have had real-life mental episodes on camera (and there have been numerous examples of those)

I also thought it was ludicrous to have Dale have a very public mental breakdown on a Thursday and then a matter of days later he’s back on-air on a rival network as cool as a cucumber as if nothing had ever happened. That’s quite a remarkable recovery from a full-on mental breakdown and an incident that, should it be remotely realistic, would have likely had him taken off-camera for months, if not permanently.

I get that it’s fiction and there has to be a certain suspension of disbelief , but at the same time I think it has to have an element of realism, and the series up until that point I thought was excellent and had a careful attention to realism and detail, but that last half-hour or so of the last episode just irritated me.

Totally agree. They were my criticisms too.

There was something a bit odd about the new current affairs show going up against the news and then they were rival programs.

I did wonder if they would have been better off having both newsreaders off the main bulletin after season two. They could have then both become rival hosts of current affairs programs that went up against each other. After his breakdown, Dale could have switched networks too.
