THE SHOW THE WHOLE WORLD’S HOOKED ON

The Floor , the global sensation trivia game, has landed in Australia for a fast-paced battle of brains in which 81 contestants in a giant arena will chase a life-changing prize of $200,000.

Hosted by Rodger Corser (Doctor Doctor, Underbelly), this intense competition begins on Monday, April 28, at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

In The Floor, trivia fanatics from across Australia will put their knowledge to the test in high-stakes, head-to-head duels. Each contestant starts with one tile on the floor of the arena, representing their specialist field of knowledge. Their mission? Win duels, conquer more of the 81 tiles, and claim as much ground as possible.

There can only be one winner: the top trivia buff, who will walk away with $200,000 in cash.

Rodger Corser said: ā€œThe Floor is a high-energy mix of strategy and trivia, taken to a whole new level. With 81 contestants and $200,000 at stake, it’s intense, unpredictable, and guaranteed to keep you hooked.

ā€œWith an amazing array of contestants of all ages from across the country, and with categories that are just as diverse, it’s the perfect game for the whole family to play along at home. Believe me when I say it’s a nailbiter right to the end.ā€

From teachers, tradies and nurses to entrepreneurs, artists and everything in between, The Floor will feature a true cross-section of Australia. Among the 81 contenders, a few familiar faces will also step up to the challenge.

One is Jules Robinson, the entrepreneur and Married at First Sight favourite who is ready to swap love for logic and claim her tile. Popular MasterChef contestant and paediatric nurse Amina Elshafei will bring her signature mix of brains and heart – but can she whisk up the winning answers? Or perhaps LEGO Masters fan favourite and professional LEGO artist Kale Frost will build his way to victory.

Since launching in the Netherlands in 2023, The Floor has taken the world by storm, captivating audiences in over 15 countries, including the USA, France, Spain, and Germany.

Now it’s Australia’s turn. With a huge range of categories, The Floor is the ultimate family game night – a show where viewers can test their trivia knowledge and play along from home as contestants battle it out on the dazzling LED floor. It’s non-stop thrills, fierce competition, and edge-of-your-seat entertainment all the way.

With 81 contestants competing for the ultimate prize, only one will rise to the top. Find out when The Floor premieres Monday, April 28, at 7.30 pm AEST on Channel 9 and 9Now.

EDIT: Rodger is also on the cover of TV Week this week.

Enjoying this but man the contestants (as is the case with most shows these days) are wayyyyy too much :face_with_peeking_eye:

Production values are the same as the US version which is good. Good start to the show.

Feels like it’s just going to be one duel after another and that’s it?

It’s somewhat strategic in whether you pass or play for more territory. You can hoodwink someone into taking you on and you’re good at their topic as well.

It’s an easy watch. Not much brain power to commit to it and it’s better than endless reality shows.

Cmon. This is too OTT. It’s like it has an American producer.

Needs to be dialed back a bit for AU I think —reminds
Me of how over the top game of games was on ten.

And why are there random d grade celebs mixed in the group?

Because real celebs have some dignity? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love trivia but I didn’t really enjoy this show. I agree that some of the contestants were way too OTT but that’s probably why they were selected in the first place. I’ll give it another go and hopefully I’ll enjoy it.

Why were all but one of the categories identify by pictures but "Bands’ was cryptic clues. Seemed unfair.

I throughly enjoyed this. Such a great and easy to follow show. Rodger is better suited to this type of show.

As opposed to what other types of shows?

I’ve only seen him on drama shows like Doctor Doctor.

Probably referring to his hosting of Traitors Aus a few years ago on 10?
