The Bachelor/Golden Bachelor Australia

Yes. I said that. Canada is in North America.

Yes. I believe he lives in Australia now but it’s not a great pick when you’re launching a new show.

Probably they’ve been on The bachelorette franchise beforehand

Who?

Where’s the mansion located? It looks like they rented Kirribilli House.

What are you talking about? He isn’t gay. The contestants are women.

You think Albo is renting out the Prime Minister’s Sydney home for a few extra bucks?

Veteran Melbourne actor/comedian Marty Fields (miss him on 3AW radio and he was great in 2004 as a villain cop on Blue Heelers) with some ‘thoughts’ on tonight’s launch :joy:

A producing masterstroke would be in the finale Bear does a Nick Cummins and chooses neither, instead running off with the host Sam Armytage!

OK. Not that funny.

Anyone watching GB?

No. The Amazing Race finale is tonight.

EPISODE 1: MONDAY, OCTOBER 20

When Australia’s first Golden Bachelor, BEAR, meets 20 remarkable women in the search to find their next great love, sparks fly with some, before he says goodbye to three.

BEAR’S heart-wrenching back story cuts to the quick as he explains how he focused on raising his three sons after the tragic death of his wife. Now, 14 years later, he’s here to find out if love can strike twice in one lifetime.

As the women arrive, each one showcases her unique personality, hoping to ignite a spark with the first Golden Bachelor. JANETTE nervously reads BEAR a heartfelt poem as he holds her hands for support. SHAMSE is delighted to discover they both grew up in Canada. The warrior princess ELIZETTE teaches BEAR to samba, before BEAR settles TERRI’S nerves by grounding their feet in the grass. Funny girl and radio host BIANCA is thrilled to discover BEAR is “a spunk bubble” while CATHERINE challenges him to an arm wrestle. SUNNY surprises BEAR with hidden golf balls, revealing her cheeky personality, and JAN, the last to arrive, brings champagne to toast new beginnings.

As they settle into a cocktail party, the women vie for BEAR’S attention. CATHERINE isn’t shy at all, drawing on her years of competitive bodybuilding to make a strong case for the prize. But BIANCA struggles to pluck up the courage to talk to BEAR, putting her at risk of not receiving a rose. SUNNY manages to steal BEAR away for a private chat but is interrupted by a surprise late arrival to the mansion, KIM, who races down the driveway in her Porsche. Though SUNNY isn’t one to give up easily, KIM’s arrival throws the party into chaos.

In an intimate private moment, KIM bonds with BEAR over their shared history of losing partners, as she reveals she has been twice widowed. JAN spills her heartache over not being able to have the children she always wanted. ELIZETTE sneaks inside to discover the living quarters are a far cry from what she’s used to.

When host SAMANTHA delivers the First Impression Rose to the party, explaining this is the first rose BEAR will give out this evening, panic sets in. A rose invites a woman to stay in the mansion and continue to get to know BEAR. The women worry when they realise some will be going home tonight. BEAR catches JAN by surprise when he offers her the First Impression Rose and a spark is ignited, leaving the other women concerned.

At the Rose Ceremony, BEAR hands out roses one by one to the he wants to get to know. BIANCA is the last to receive a rose, leaving her nerves in tatters.

That interview on Today was woeful on Bear’s part. He barley spoke, Sam basically spoke for him and the answers he gave when being asked direct questions were so dry.

I mean, that’s kind of in keeping with what we know about Armytage and making everything about her.

Or she’s having to pull the weight cause she realises he’s giving them nothing.

Ratings quite average, I was initially excited to watch it — but it ended up dragging on and felt quite dull!

Yahoo Australia has an article on the mansion. It’s called Tresco and located at Elizabeth Bay.

EPISODE 2: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21

It’s a week of firsts in the mansion. On the very first morning, the women excitedly get to know each other, all hoping for a date with BEAR. Host SAMANTHA arrives with the first single date invitation, inspired by one of his greatest passions.

BEAR whisks JANETTE away on a romantic sail to a private beach picnic, where sparks fly, their connection deepens, and they share the first kiss before he offers her a rose. But back at the mansion, CATHERINE can’t hide her disappointment at being overlooked.

Next, BEAR turns up the heat with a rom-com-inspired group date, inviting CATHERINE, NICOLETTE, JAN, GERA, HAMIDAH, SUNNY, SHAMSE, ELIZETTE and KATRINA. From Grease to Dirty Dancing to Muriel’s Wedding, the women step into iconic love stories — but the roles they choose reveal more about their characters than BEAR bargained for. SUNNY shines, CATHERINE steals the limelight in Dirty Dancing, and SHAMSE is so overcome she bolts from the date.

At the Cocktail Party, the women introduce a new girl code — “permission to push” — to keep things fair. But when CATHERINE ignores the rule and cuts in on LAUREN, tensions flare.
