9Now and Stan tend to start their streams shortly before the event and just let through whatever is incoming rather than run their own placeholder.

I imagine it requires less staff interaction than running placeholders and runs less risk of missing the start of an event if there’s minimal staff trying to run a bunch of simultaneous streams of different events.
