Ten Sport

I wonder if 10 would consider purchasing the rights to the Australia and Sri Lanka test series? The series currently has no Australian broadcaster. Wouldn’t be the worst idea given the interest in cricket at the moment following the Border Gavaskar Trophy, coupled with a need for Ten to broadcast more live sport.

The time differences means the matches start at 3.30pm AEDT time, so could either air on the main channel or on a secondary channel of Ten’s.

Would probably have to be very cheap for 10 to consider it, I’d imagine. I wonder if they would put it on Paramount to drive more subscriptions, though I’d rather see it on 10.

It’s a great timezone. They should and put the first two sessions on P+ with the primetime last session on 10.

Wouldn’t actually mind this, could be good for P+ & 10 to get their foot in the door with A-tier sports.
And a good callback to the BBL days.

No Sunday Hoops this week, with the 2024/25 NBL regular season finishing on Saturday night. Finals start on February 11 with the Play-In Tournament.

Is 10 going to air any of the NBL play-offs and/or the Grand Finals?

For what it’s worth, their guide says “Stay tuned for further announcements”.

Worth noting there is a 2:30 pm AEDT TBA in next Sunday’s schedule that is mirrored at the appropriate local time across the network. (eg TBA is 1.30pm in Brisbane)

ESPN has the last play-in game scheduled for then too. NBL website says it’s going to be that day but haven’t scheduled a time (I guess if it’s in Perth they’ll use a 4:30pm AEDT slot maybe).

Sunday the 23rd is during an international break (Boomers are playing dead rubbers against Indonesia and Thailand for Asia Cup qualification), the 2nd and 9th of March have Grand Final games 2 and 4 listed at 4pm AEDT on ESPN’s side but they’ve missed the Semi Finals entirely, so not sure how much you can read into that.

Saw a promo for it during the news at 5pm here in QLD, good on 10 for televising it IIRC last year ESPN got it exclusively.

It will be the play-in game between South East Melbourne Phoenix and Adelaide 36ers, after the latter beat the Kings in Sydney 95-88 tonight.

10’s broadcast game this Sunday (March 2) at 2.30pm AEDT is game 2 of the semi-finals series between the Phoenix and Illawarra Hawks, live from John Cain Arena.

Something interesting about that promo, no 10 play logo in sight and doesn’t mention streaming at all - aside from the press release.

Are we near the end of them phasing this out?
