Do we think 10 will keep the rights in the future? I reckon they will want to, but will VRC renew or go back to Seven (or Nine?).

Well Ten bought well over market for Melbourne Cup Carnival rights, they may just get them again if they are just stupid enough to pay as much again next time.

I’d imagine given its one of only a few major racing events that Seven don’t have that they’d make a decent play for it.

The chief executive however has said Seven wouldn’t blow themselves up to get rights however. It remains to be seen how networks would be willing to pay overs for this when they are already under the sea with AFL/NRL - at least that provides 26 plus weeks of rating content that reaches key demographics.

Melbourne Cup is four days during the daytime with one race that delivers a country-wide interest. Nothing for the remaining 51 weeks of the year.

Channel 10 is the biggest winner of a crowd at Melb Cup. How relieved would they be. The coverage was so flat last year.

F1 is missing from it, when they still have 2022 season left to run. You know what 10 could still have it but in a reduced capacity from next season. We still don’t know what it entails.

From 1pm each Sunday, four hours of high-octane basketball will be available live and free to sport-lovers and adrenaline-junkies alike.

Supporters will have a front row seat to the biggest games of the season, as the NBL’s best, battle it out for the coveted 2021/2022 championship.

To kick off the season on Sunday, 5 December, the Adelaide 36ers will take on the Brisbane Bullets at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, while Melbourne United will begin their championship defence against arch rival the Sydney Kings at Qudos Bank Arena. This huge match will also mark the NBL debut of ex-NBA champion Matthew Dellavedova for Melbourne United.

Adam Cush, Director of Sport Production, Network 10, said: “We are excited to bring two matches of world-class basketball to fans all over Australia every Sunday live and free.

“With a great line-up of Sunday matches, we will be showcasing the NBL’s best players and teams. It’s set to be an unmissable season.”

Jeremy Loeliger, Hungry Jack’s NBL Commissioner, said: “We are delighted to be back on Network 10 this season. Every weekend, 10 Peach is going to be the home of Sunday Hoops from 1pm to 5pm.

“This is one of the most anticipated seasons in league history with multiple bronze medal Boomers from the Tokyo Olympics coming back to play in the NBL, a host of exciting new Next Stars and the inclusion of our 10th team the Tasmania JackJumpers.”

JackJumpers are hardly on 10. NZ Breakers have a lot of games on FTA

Just the luck of the draw. Of course ESPN would want more games that won’t be watched by as many (in Australia) on FTA, so better games are on pay.

they pretty much only cover the aus gp now though don’t they? i watch on foxtel so i am not 100% sure

Yeah, other than a short highlights show on 10Bold. Aus GP is the only one with live coverage.

Do we think 10 Peach might go HD MPEG4 by December to accommodate this change to BBALL coverage?

Hopefully by December they’ll have clear stats about any change of viewership to 10Bold to make an informed decision. Would be a nice move.

What Nicholas said is right: they want to, but if Bold isn’t working then they won’t. Bold won’t change back though.
