I agree he ad-libs weather. But I think that tribute was off autocue
Sandra has responded to the tribute.

What does she mean she’s just seeing it for the first time, can they not watch the story packages that go to air in real time if the bulletin is live, or was the part on the desk with Josh pre-recorded?
I’ve worked with weather presenters who completely ad-lib their broadcast with a DA counting back in their ear at the same time. It’s extremely impressive.
Jane Riley apparently never used an autocue when she was at 10 Adelaide.
A lovely montage for such a trailblazing icon
The G.O.A.T
Presumably they don’t have easy access to that footage but might have had the audio from another package.
But given they had footage of Sandra doing a bulletin on the same night, surely they would have access to the footage from the same bulletin (unless that part was taken from an earlier tribute package)
Probably a tribute package. Easier for the editor to look up “Sully” in the archives and pull from existing packages.
Interesting title, wonder what it will have him doing?
News from me! After 3 wonderful years as State Political Reporter I’m moving to a new role as Special Projects Editor for 10 News Queensland. Bring on the next chapter!

In the old days “special projects” usually was code for being in the departure lounge
Not sure what it means in this day and age.
That’s sort of how I interpreted it also, it’s very vague.
Senior Reporter
Special Assignments Reporter / Editor
Investigations Editor
Etc.
Good riddance
Not a fan?
Will be interesting to see who replaces Brendan, but given their current reporters I could see it being either of the Matthews.
Matthew Karstunen did report for the opposition during the recent state election, so maybe him.
Unfortunately in Brisbane they’ve lost so many experienced reporters that these young rookies are out of their depth and need more experience to polish up their presenting, story telling and general cadence. I don’t rate many of the Brisbane reporters at 10 at all.
It will take them a little while to recover in Queensland, they certainly lost a lot of good talent and there was no real reason for others to stay around with better opportunities elsewhere after things were centralised.
I did some quick counting the other week and think Brisbane still has the smallest number of reporters when compared to the other cities - 3 fewer I believe when compared to Perth or Adelaide.
Certainly picking up Sharyn and Liz have added some experience and level of prestigiousness to the return of local news, and they do have some more junior reporters who are still relatively new to 10 such as Jade and Tiarni. To a slightly less extent both the Matthews and Brendan do pretty darn well for their age and experience.
But I would also argue they’ve got a fair bit of experience amongst the ones that have been there for a while, Tim Collits has obviously been around a while, Pippa has been with 10 for over 10 years now, Georgina Hill almost the same and ex Melbourne for the network.
The recent ratings have been encouraging, and hopefully will lead to more reinvestment in the Qld bulletin over time.
Confirmed
Despite my serious face - I’m excited to be taking on a new role in the new year as state political reporter for @10NewsFirstQLD covering the new government. Send me tips!

The problem is they won’t pay to keep talent. Most do a year or two then move into other endeavours.
Most are young and want to progress.
