Ten News First Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

It had been mentioned here how Narelda would cope doing both roles (Studio 10 newsreader/Perth newsreader),and now it seems it will be a 4 day week for her which is completely appropriate.
Hopefully now on Friday’s Charlotte is the permanent Perth newsreader and Lachlan Kennedy Studio 10 newsreader.

Well you know what this means? Nine (and/or even Seven) just need to move their afternoon news to 5pm in Brisbane and they’ll successfully kill off Ten in 2 cities.

If Ten are stupid enough to go with National bulletins at 5, you’ll see Seven and Nine entering that space.

Could it be worth doing news 4-5pm, 5-6pm, 6-7pm?
Or could it potentially take viewers away from 6pm?

At this point, it could even be worth starting a rolling news channel, with dedicated local bulletins on this channel instead of the main one.

I say it works, but every time I’ve ever bought that up here I get accused of just “copying what the USA is doing. We’re not America”.

Not everyone is home at 6pm and free-to-air TV needs to invent the wheel to survive. The days of just putting everything into your flagship 5pm or 6pm bulletin are dying (not completely dead, but nowhere near the audiences they were). Having supplementary bulletins helps build your news brand. Something Ten failed to do.

:cry::cry:

Chris will be gone by the end of year I reckon. Exactly like Mike Munro.

Would 10 News First really save much money by getting rid of Chris Bath? If anything, Hugh Riminton is an even more experienced (and presumably, also more expensive) journo than she is!

Amanda Jason is back presenting weather this weekend.

Chris Bath is a contractor whereas Hugh is on staff.

Definitely a saving having Hugh present and dropping a couple of days of reporting during the week.

Hope not

If that happens(as much as I don’t want it to)when they eventually go national Sandra could do weeknights for all markets, and Jen could present weekends from Melbourne.

Surprised Chris survived the savage cuts.

Agree. As we’ve learnt in the last month or so, Ten are savage when it comes to cuts.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ten axe her in favour of someone cheaper (and much less experienced) such as Charlotte Goodlet for the national weekend bulletin.

This would seem likely. A real shame if they do choose to cut Chris though.

‘Savage’ ie they show complete disregard for talented and experienced presenters

Live and Local aside, the reporters/presenters and stories on 10 are for the most part better. So it’s an interesting case.

For now, if that. Quality will decline as reporters with experience are forced out.

In case anyone missed it, former 10 News First Sydney weatherman Tim Bailey has been picked up by Sydney radio station 2GB. He will do the weather on Ben Fordham’s breakfast and Jim Wilson’s drive slots.

Discussion is happening over in the Nine Radio thread.
