Based on this I wouldn’t be surprised if she was planned to present the late news from Perth, then was scrapped and left the network.

Think that was probably unintended and just how things worked out Friday
I imagine it was probably a bit much for Kate to do three bulletins in a day including Sydney afternoon updates and might have clashed a bit with Adelaide updates etc hence easier to get someone else for 3.30.
