The network was going to go back into the helicopter pool but the greediness of Seven and Nine blew out the cost. They wanted double to what 10 was previously paying.

Do the ABC and SBS use pool footage from Seven and Nine. or do they have a different arrangement? Could 10 partner with them instead?
What are the helicopter arrangements in each capital city?
I’ve noticed since Wednesday last week that Melbourne no longer opens their bulletin with a cold opener.
Has this changed elsewhere? Seemed to also be the case with the national weekend bulletin too.
I believe Seven, Nine, ABC and Sky all have access to it.
The ABC access to it, although they don’t have a say in where the chopper goes. Seven supplies the crew in most states and dictates where they go to film from above.
I believe its more a case of Nine and Seven pay the most in the agreement and have equal alternate weeks of the year in which they control the chopper. 10 and ABC also access it but do not get to dictate.
This was at least the case in Perth.

I thought 10 in Perth did but I may be mistaken.
Melbourne still seems like a cold open but, yes, the presenter doesn’t seem to be seen for that split second at the start.

Over on the Adelaide bulletin, Max Burford and others doing a lot of live crosses/presenting from outside Adelaide oval yesterday and today for gather round.

Sydney is the only local bulletin without a local background. Surely it wouldn’t take much to gradient in a Opera House picture… Considering they had one displayed during building of the set.

Honestly I don’t think the globe/city mashups looks that great on Melbourne/Adelaide and Sydney seems to manage pretty well as it is. The globe looks nice animated but not that great when it happens to be lines on a still capture.
That said the local imagery desperately needs a refresh across most of the bulletins - I think the bridge/opera house photo on the screens behind the desk on Sydney hasn’t been changed since 10 changed logos and launched the first incarnation of the current graphics and Adelaide/Melbourne isn’t much better.
Brisbane isn’t bad though - obviously newer.

I wasn’t a fan when Melb/Adl still got the permanent local imagery backdrop, still not.
I’d prefer they went with a liveshot, but that’s just not 10s thing.

The animation used for the “X post” at 1:10 looks nice. I wonder if it’s just taken from a CBS story?
I’d say so. Matches their graphics template and the use of the dot.
Would love to see 10 take that classy look.
