Was Sydney controlling the bulletin tonight… my gosh.
With seven axing its late news, 10 should be promoting theirs a lot more.
In our dreams.
One way to look at it - it gets more promotion than the Midday or Afternoon bulletins across their socials, is available in full on Youtube, preview during the 5pm news, news updates before bulletin airs on broadcast etc.
Could always be more, but 10 obviously prioritises their primetime lineup. Late news is only there because of content obligations.
A bit of a milestone of sorts for Brisbane bulletin on Tuesday with a Total TV rating of 58,000 and broadcast rating of 54,000.
Based on numbers we have seen that is the highest for both measures since the reintroduction of the locally based bulletin. The broadcast TV number is the highest since July 2023.
Hopefully it can increase across the rest of the year.
And Sydney seems to be regularly out rating Melbourne of late too.
Sydney the real stand out recently, and yet no Sandra in sight
Sandra is great but Hugh is very very good. He’s authoritative and genuine and knows his stuff. They’re lucky to have him.
Yeah, seems to be in Dubai according to Insta. When Narelda signed off on the 10th January she implied Sandra would be back the following week but obviously been Hugh since.
I think Melbourne needs a revamp. New set and some new ideas to present.
That small monitor that weather is presented from is pathetic.
And doesn’t stumble as often as Sandra does.
Yeah she is in Dubai. She usually comes back last week of January/first week of February if previous years are anything to go by…
I’d imagine ratings are still fairly reasonable with her presenting though? I mean she is very well known and respected in the field
He really is. He was excellent on CNN back in the day.
Its way past its use by date. A new look and refresh is needed.
The set is now 11 years old.
This comes up constantly, and I’m sure their thinking is - if it’s not broke we’re not fixing it.
Surely they don’t have the budget for this right now, amid everything going on and bulletins being axed.
Melbourne still surely better than the hodge podge we have in Brisbane right now, and the green screen that Adelaide get on a nightly basis.
Melbourne should be performing better for the network.
It’s the largest television market in the country and Brisbane is often nearing its nightly figure. Money needs to be spent here.
But will splashing on a new set really move the needle that much? I’m sure the bean counters at 10/Para don’t think so or you’d think it would’ve been remedied already. A nice to have, but probably not likely for a while yet.
Melbourne may have something to do with swapping presenters so often, getting rid of popular presenters like Mike Larkan and Jen Keyte as lovely as she is, isn’t very exciting to watch.
I agree, the set is definitely outdated. While i know Studio 1A is getting a makeover, I’m surprised the newsroom isn’t getting a refresh as well. On top of that, the content feels stale and repetitive, which doesn’t help their image.
The lack of consistency with presenters is another major issue. Over Christmas, for example, Candice presented one day, then Jayde took over, only for Candice to return for the weekend - even though it was a national one. It made no sense, and I know some viewers even emailed in complaints, calling it “amateurish.”
Then there’s Jen, who returned from her holiday for just a week before disappearing again. Melbourne always feels disorganised, and viewers want consistency and stability. But a majority of the team only care about the next big invitee they’d get invite too.
