With over 25 years of experience covering Queenslandâs most significant stories, Josh brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to the people and events that impact and shape the state.
In his new role, Josh will lead the 5pm bulletin for 10 News First Queensland, guiding a team of dedicated journalists and crews to deliver the news that matters most to Queenslanders.
Martin White, Head of Broadcast News, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said that Josh was made for 10 News First.
Martin said: âJosh has everything that we pride ourselves on. He is a great journalist, a quality news maker, and a good person and leader. I look forward to seeing the success he brings, as we continue to ramp up our investment in local news in Queensland.â
Joshâs passion for Queensland news and his expertise in the stateâs dynamic weather and natural disasters will be central to his leadership. He is committed to providing comprehensive, locally-focused coverage that keeps Queenslanders informed and engaged.
Josh said: âThe recent re-investment back into Queensland by 10 News First is testament to the enduring nature and commitment of the network. â10 News First is stepping up for Queenslanders. We have the most driven team of any news service. Presenters who deliver stories with strength, compassion, an intimate knowledge of their craft and the workings of our great state.â
âA change has come to Queensland News, and 10 News First is meeting it head on. Our team is experienced and loyal, and I am excited to be a part of it,â Josh said.
Born and raised in Brisbane, Joshâs career began in 1998 as a news reporter with 7 Local News in Mackay, before moving to the 7 News Brisbane Gold Coast Bureau, where he quickly made his mark as a reporter, story producer, and Bureau Chief. Most recently, Josh served as the 7 News Gold Coast Chief of Staff for five years.
Throughout his career, Josh has extensively covered local news across Queensland, regularly being called upon to oversee coverage of natural disasters affecting the state with notable reporting from disaster zones such as Cyclone Larry in 2006 in Innisfail, the devastating Black Summer bushfires of 2019, the Brisbane floods and major events like the G20 Summit in Brisbane.
His deep knowledge of Queenslandâs weather and natural disasters, alongside his ongoing commitment to the people and places of the state, have made him a trusted name in Queensland journalism.
Is he an ex-7 News GC staff member?
Is the whole of 10 News First Queensland penny pinching from 7 at this point
It literally says in the release above heâs ex 7?
A lot of good talent has been let go by Seven over the last few months, so itâs no surprise 10 were able to cherry pick some of them to join the new local bulletin.
Ik it says ex-7 but wasnât sure if he was let go at the close of 7 GC or before it closed was clarifying.
Should said
He was let go in June when there was some redundancies then, well before the recent changes to the GC operations.
Was also noted in the presenters thread a few months ago that he voiced a few stories for 10, believe he mightâve been doing some work behind the scenes too.
Some minor issues with Sydney 5pm audio too.
Noticed tonight in Qld the Late News preview during the news, the wording about the time the bulletin airing was a bit different.
Ursula said something like âsee you soon on 10 play and 10:30 east coast timeâ.
Couldnât saying âEastern Daylightâ be a better wording than this? Smh
Was the preview national?
They have just moved over to a new system in the last few weeks. Could be why.
Wow that sunrise esque gradient on the breaking news watermark is so hideous, an obvious carryover from the short lived breakfast which should have been well and truly scrapped by now.
Agreed. Same with the title cards. The backgrounds used during the bulletin would look so good as a title card! I notice the watermark every time and it annoys me so much!
It was good that they invited them to appear on screen but a bit weird how they crouched down there.
Are these crew leaving due to automation or are they just moving on elsewhere?
Some staff have been made redundant, however, others left on their own accord.
The latest cuts are believed to target staff in Studio Operations at 10âs offices in Pyrmont in Sydney where it is believed 3 people have been impacted, and follows recent shifts aimed at streamlining the networkâs already slim news division.
TV Blackbox understands that a small number of voluntary redundancies were offered to staff, with another source telling this website that this time around more people were putting their hand up to take up the offer.
My mate Herman is leaving!! Who will do the famous long shots of the set now?!
I hear Erin Morlan may be looking for a job
Surprised though @Nicholas you werenât there yourself to:
