BTW I hope the sweeping camera shots are still to @Nicholas standards
Thank goodness they didn’t change the Sydney set
The dark deep blue looks fantastic! Though it feels very Late News.
Throwing in some elements of white on the backdrop (less for 5pm, more for Lunchtime and Afternoon), plus changing the LED strips to white might help it feel more suited to its timeslot?
Edit: not sure why I said “bring back” the white LED strips, I don’t think they were ever white on a normal day
Yellow for weather, light blue for Finance, expecting green for sport?
Finance graphic does look nice.
Minor criticism - the background on the set is very dark, including the globe. A tad more white would be nice.
And like the launch of the last package - they need to mix up what’s displayed on the vertical screens a bit (eg use a generic cityscape) - way too much solid blue across the set at the moment.
I think they’re going to down the route with CBS evening News vibes
Melbourne Mic flag looks thin compared to Sydney mic flag
I agree, using something like the white title card at the start of the bulletin would’ve made a huge improvement, and make it look more inviting and fresh for a daytime bulletin.
Agree some variations on colours might be better, but not sure about the white - it looks a bit too pale.
Maybe in lighter shades of blue, a la the old intro? Or something like the headline bumpers:
holy shit this might be the best graphics package of the lot
What a massive improvement. That looks fantastic. Especially with the blinds opened finally.
The background is too dark now. Thwy need to go lighter, especially during the daytime.
There’s probably not a heap they can do with that space but looks much better than it was - looks like it’s now screens on the pillars so hopefully that gives them some flexibility re what’s displayed on them. Some local branding or sport branding etc would be nice, depending on the situation.
I think they’re just lightboxes. They didn’t animate at all during the update.
Looks very CBS News-ish
