Especially since Narelda is already on deck for the Perth news.
As predicted 10âs Late News got a big boost from HYBPA as a lead in to its highest rating of the year with 288,000. The large reach figure again suggests a turn off across the hour. Time to revive a version of Sports Tonight or make sport a feature of the 2nd half of the bulletin. More people watched the Late news than the 5pm news in Perth while the same number watch both bulletins in Melbourne.
10News+ encore later had 96,000.
I wouldnât be reviving ST again but trialing more sport content in the second half of bulletin could help prevent switch off.
The 3 commercial networks started their 2.30pm AEST interest rate decision reports almost simultaneously - 10âs took less than 2 minutes to deliver.
I watched for the first time last night since I was watching HYBPA. Only watched the first two segments. I was surprised to see live crosses to Adelaide and Perth newsrooms (nothing from Queensland). It was fairly decent in this sense, probably better than the weekend national bulletin.
It wasnât until the second segment that Ursula got out from behind the desk and they used the big screen. Probably should use more of this to make the bulletin more lively. Maybe the live crosses on the screens?
Doubt sport would keep people watching though lol.
It still amuses me that Australian commercial TV networks break into programming for interest rate updates. This wouldnât happen in any other country.
I find it an odd Australian phenomenon too. As a mortgage holder, it is relevant news. But itâs weird how they treat it like World War 3 has just broken out.
Australiaâs somewhat an outlier in terms of both having such a huge amount tied up in housing, and also having variable rate mortgages be the default. Very expensive housing plus people as a default having it impact them the next month makes it some pretty big news compared to most places.
Taylor Ryan to present Budget Special Edition of the Late News.
Tonight 9.40pm. No idea if itâs live.
Itâs live in the usual places. Outside Adelaide and Perth.
I meant in general given isnât the Late News usually prerecorded
Itâs pretty much live ever since 10 expanded it to 60 minutes.
The only exceptions are later nights of Womenâs Asian Cup, when it was uploaded to YT around 10pm AEST.
Part of the late news? Is the epic combo making a return??!
Yeah, part of the late news. Itâll be presented by Max Burford and Adrian Franklin.
Will it be using the existing 10 News Late graphics package or a new package.
I wonder if long-term this will replace 10News+
Will this be 30-mins or just a lengthy package?
