I assume Hugh Riminton will host the coverage. Sandra or Chris Bath as cohost?? Highly unlikely that Hamish will do it like last time.
Ashleigh Raper will head up the panel. Wonder who else will be part of the coverage.

Faults in the broadcast tonight with the LIVE transition not in operation and all these awkward pauses.

The second half hour hasn’t begun yet. It’s only 5:25pm.
I realise this.. I was asking if there were any hints in the way the earlier part of the bulletin that doesn’t seem like it has been broadcast more recently.
Last time it was recorded, we didn’t have a sport presenter. They have kept Veronica on this time. I would say that they film sport first because there is a much wider shot of Veronica at the desk than usual (suggesting she is the only one sitting there). I don’t usually stick around for sport but there was an awful amount of stories today where Veronica would read them and they just used a transition graphic between the overlays (not return to a shot of Veronica to introduce it). Unsure if that is normal. The cross to and from sport included Sharyn though.
Everything else was the same as last time. It looks like pre-record from the segment that starts just before 1730.

You can tell from the 2nd weather cross being recorded earlier in the day and no live split screen with the news reader.

It’s going to be pretty obvious that the later weather cross is pre-recorded as we head towards winter in Qld and its gets darker earlier, not ideal at all.
Wonder if it’s an option for Liz to record the later weather closer to when it airs so it’s as true to the conditions as it can be, though I guess it doesn’t make much sense to have her and camera operator standing around to do a pre-record if they don’t have to.
It depends what time they’re pre-recording that segment, it it’s before 5pm or not.
It’s obvious now because they’ve pre-recorded it before sunset to air it after sunset, currently around 5:30pm.
If they’re going to keep doing that they should probably record it back in studio or indoors somewhere!

I noted in the ratings article for today that the 10 News national audience yesterday was 360,000 compared to the equivalent day last year when it was on 282,000. Though it is variable, some really big increases for the bulletin have been noted this year. Brisbane’s bulletin is up 64% this week compared to 2024.
Imagine what might be achieved with a bit more investment in better promos, some more resources, access to the pool helicopter, a couple more staff in front of the camera and more. Hope that management has noted the results of the recent changes; it seems the viewers have.
